The first step in the development method is to lay out the most economically feasible subdivision plan and estimate the gross income from the sale of the lots, as if the tract were fully subdivided and sold. Frustration of purpose is, in a sense, the converse of impracticability. The two ideas resemble each other in that neither is concerned with cases in which performance has become impossible. Impracticability is said to arise when a supplier of goods, services or other facilities alleges that performance of his own promise has become so burdensome to him that he should no longer be bound to render it. The argument of frustration of purpose, on the other hand, is put forward by the recipient of the goods, services or facilities : it is that supervening events have so greatly reduced the value to him of the other party's performance that he should no longer be bound to accept and pay for it. 2, record 21, English, - frustration%20of%20purpose

A credit that is deducted from the income tax that an individual or corporation would otherwise pay. 3, record 33, English, - tax%20credit
Record number: 33, Textual support number: 1 OBS
It differs from a tax deduction, which is subtracted from a person's or a corporation's total income, thus lowering the taxable income against which income tax is levied. The value of the tax deduction for an individual depends on the level of income. The higher the income, the higher the top marginal rate of tax, and the greater the value of the tax deduction. In the case of a tax credit, however, the value is the same to all recipients, since it is deducted from the actual tax they would otherwise pay. The tax credit is considered a preferable way of extending benefits to individuals since it gives all recipients the same amount of money, while a tax deduction gives a greater benefit to people with high incomes. Moreover, a tax credit can be paid to people whose income is too low to require them to pay taxes, under a system of negative income tax, whereas a tax deduction can only benefit people who have taxable income. 3, record 33, English, - tax%20credit

The concept of pay equity refers to legislated programs that aim to achieve equity in pay in a predictable and organized fashion. Pay equity laws are pro-active in that they do not rely on a complaint being filed in order to engage. These laws provide specific targets and deadlines, and use the collective bargaining process to get the parties to agree on a job evaluation system and on pay adjustments. As is the case for equal pay for work of equal value, pay equity allows for the comparison of male and female jobs of a different nature. 7, record 40, English, - pay%20equity
Record number: 40, Textual support number: 2 CONT
Pay equity is designed to bring about equal pay for work of equal value. Pay equity initiatives do not concern themselves with the fact that women and men tend to work in different occupations. Instead, pay equity focuses on eliminating compensation inequities that exist for female jobs relative to their male counterpart jobs of equal value. Pay equity is about people staying in the same job but being valued appropriately according to the organization's compensation patterns for male jobs. Equal value is determined by evaluating the skill, effort and responsibility required to perform the work, and the conditions under which the work is performed. 8, record 40, English, - pay%20equity

11, record 40, French, - parit%C3%A9%20salariale

ICC-Incoterms 1990 : Delivered Ex Quay(duty paid) "means that the seller fulfils his obligation to deliver when he has made the goods available to the buyer on the quay(wharf) at the named port of destination, cleared for importation. The seller has to bear all risks and costs including duties, taxes and other charges of delivering the goods thereto. This term should not be used if the seller is unable directly or indirectly to obtain the import licence. If the parties wish the buyer to clear the goods for importation and pay the duty the words "duty unpaid" should be used instead of "duty paid". If the parties wish to exclude from the seller's obligations some of the costs payable upon importation of the goods(such as value added tax(VAT), this should be made clear by adding words to this effect :"Delivered ex quay, VAT unpaid... named port of destination) ". There are several technical methods which are related to CVM [contingent valuation methods] but which are increasingly viewed as distinct from CVM, called discrete choice methods. They are different from CVM in that "instead of eliciting willingness to pay for the environmental good or service in a specified "state", the [methods] offer respondents a series of choice tasks among hypothesized alternatives which describe a wider range of "states" by altering various levels of several attributes, among which price is merely one attribute". These are new methods and are not as well known or accepted as CVM approaches. Two of the emerging methods are titled-discrete choice modeling and discrete choice experiments(DCE). Discrete choice modeling is a technique used to derive a demand curve for an area based on different combinations of "discrete choices". A large sample is usually required to undertake this analysis where respondents are asked to select one choice("bundle of goods and services" related to the protected area with a price associated with it) over another choice. The results of this analysis produces a demand curve which can be used to estimate the value of benefits. 1, record 61, English, - discrete%20choice%20modeling

A coin can have as many as five values depending on the context. "Face value", or "nominal value", is the denomination of the coin. "Intrinsic value" is the melt value of the metallic content of a coin and, for gold or silver coins, is usually greater than face value. "Wholesale value" is what a dealer will pay to own a piece for his business for eventual resale. "Retail value" is what a typical collector will pay to own the coin. "Esteemed value" is the highest possible price that a collector might pay for a piece and this price is influenced not just by how rare or non-competitive the coin might be but also by a certain amount of emotion on the part of the buyer. Certain coins with "pedigree" may also be classed here. 1, record 70, English, - value
