PIPELINING [8 records]

Record 1 2004-05-18

English

Subject field(s)
  • Petroleum Asphalts
CONT

A recent innovation by Syncrude, called "Natural Froth Lubricity", uses water in the froth to create a lubricating sleeve, thereby allowing the pipelining of froth without adding diluent.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Bitumes
CONT

Subject field(s)
  • The Product (Marketing)
  • Labelling (Oil and Natural Gas Distrib.)
  • Commercial Utilization (Oil and Natural Gas)
DEF

Identified volume of product, the quality of which is covered by a single certificate of quality or certificate of analysis. [Definition standardized by ISO.]

DEF

In pipelining, a quantity of one weight or type of crude or liquid product pumped next to one of different weight or type.

OBS

batch: term standardized by ISO.

Domaine(s)
  • Produit (Commercialisation)
  • Étiquetage (Pétrole et gaz naturel)
  • Exploitation commerciale (Pétrole et gaz naturel)
DEF

English

Subject field(s)
  • Oil and Natural Gas Extraction
DEF

... an area in which there is substantial oil and gas exploration and development operations.

OBS

A term referring broadly to the oil field, to areas of exploration, production, and pipelining.

OBS

A colloquial expression for an oil field. If one goes to an oil field, then one goes to the oil patch.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Extraction du pétrole et du gaz naturel
DEF

Record 6 1999-03-25

English

Subject field(s)
  • Life Cycle (Informatics)
  • Software
CONT

Chip designers pipeline the instructions, or low-level commands, given to the hardware. The first pipelined microprocessors used a five-stage pipeline.(The number of stages completed each second is given by the so-called clock rate. A personal computer with a 200 megahertz clock then executes 100 million stages per second.) Because the speedup from pipelining equals the number of stages, recent microprocessors have adopted eight or more stage pipelines.

  • Cycle de vie (Informatique)
  • Logiciels
OBS

Record 7 1997-08-01

English

Subject field(s)
  • Computers and Calculators
CONT

Pipelining is employed to obtain faster microprocessor configurations. With the addition of an n-bit register at the output of microprogram memory, the microprocessor can be operated in what is called the pipeline mode. Based on the status of the various addresses, instruction and control busses the master clock is halted at an arbitrary location in the program for both serial and pipeline configurations.
