Glories are formed by backward scattering from cloud or mist droplets. They appear on mountains and hillsides when the sun breaks through mist and when there is an opportunity to look downwards towards the antisolar point. Record number: 2, Textual support number: 1 CONT

3, record 13, French, - condensation

Radiant frosts occur when large amounts of clear, dry air moves into an area and there is almost no cloud cover at night. During these times, the plants, soil, and other objects which are warmer than the very cold night sky will "radiate" their own heat back to space and become progressively colder. In fact, the plants cool(by radiating their heat) themselves to the point that they can cause their own damage. The plant tissues which are directly exposed to the sky become the coldest. These radiation losses can cause the buds, blossoms, twigs, leaves, etc. to become 1-2°C colder than the surrounding air which radiates very little of its heat.... The amount of heat lost to wind drift is often at least equal to radiative heat losses that are in the range of 10 to 30 watts per square meter(W/m2) or more. Consequently, the replacement heat must be greater than the sum of both radiative and advective heat losses during "successful" frost protection activities... 1, record 26, English, - radiative%20heat%20loss

All clouds, from the puffy cumulus to the wispy cirrus, is a portion of air that has condensed into visible moisture. Cooling of such a portion of air to its dew point is by far the main reason for cloud formation. The main cause for the cooling lies in some process which causes air to rise or be forced upward. Large warm air masses may slide up the slope of a colder heavier mass of air. As the warmer air overrides the cooler, the warm air expands and is cooled itself by the expansion of air molecules, thus finally reaching a dew-point temperature resulting in widespread cloudiness. All clouds consist of minute water droplets, ice crystals, or a combination of both. 1, record 29, English, - cloud%20formation

In an accidental situation,... the mode of release depends on the chemical and how it is stored and on the nature of the rupture which may be highly irregular and can occur anywhere on the containing vessel.... A gas leak from a tank would act as a "point" source of vapour emissions, whereas as a liquid leak spreading on a land or water surface and evaporating would act as an "area" source. Both of these types of sources would be of a "semi-continuous" nature, whereas a catastrophic failure would result in an "instantaneous" cloud(or "puff") source.... in this latter case, a large amount of material is released in a short time.... 2, record 34, English, - instantaneous%20point%20source
