Predictive digital soil mapping(PDSM) is a mapping technique enabled by advances in computing and data science that uses numerical or statistical models to combine information about soil-forming factors obtained from spatial data layers(environmental covariates) with point soil data in order to estimate soil features for a map area... 4, record 1, English, - digital%20soil%20mapping

Conventional and digital soil mapping differ primarily in the way that soil classes or attribute values are assigned to locations. In conventional soil mapping, a combination of field inspection, extrapolation and expert knowledge is used, while in digital soil mapping, field information and quantitative inference models are used to predict soil conditions at given locations. 7, record 1, English, - digital%20soil%20mapping

sun-run-sun : So we now know how to get a single position line from a single sun sight. But we need at least two position lines to get an actual position fix, or position estimate. But there is only one sun, so we have to wait for the sun to move to take another sun sight and get another position line. Ideally, we would take a sun sight in the morning and obtain a position line, and take another sight in the afternoon for a second position line. This will result in two almost perpendicular lines, which will give us the most reliable fix with two lines(the closer the lines are to [being] perpendicular, the less susceptible their crossing point is to error). 3, record 5, English, - sun%2Drun%2Dsun%20method

A range of values below and above the point estimate that has a given probability of including the true value of a given parameter, such as a treatment effect. 3, record 6, English, - confidence%20interval
Record number: 6, Textual support number: 1 OBS
The confidence interval is the area of uncertainty for the estimating of a parameter. The use of this interval reflects the fact that a study provides one estimate of a parameter, out of the many estimates that would be possible if the study were repeated several times. If an X% CI is constructed for each repetition, X% of the intervals will contain the true value of the parameter. Investigators typically use confidence intervals of 90%, 95% or 99%. Thus, a 95% confidence interval indicates that there is a 95% probability that the confidence interval calculated from a particular study includes the true value of the parameter. If the interval includes a null value(a difference in means of 0, an odds ratio or a relative risk of 1, or a correlation coefficient of 0, for example), the null hypothesis cannot be rejected. A narrow confidence interval around a point estimate indicates a more precise estimate than a wide confidence interval. 3, record 6, English, - confidence%20interval
Record number: 6, Textual support number: 2 OBS
The validity of the confidence interval depends upon knowledge of the underlying distribution of the population or assumptions about behavior of the sampling distribution. 4, record 6, English, - confidence%20interval

Record number: 6, Textual support number: 1 OBS
3, record 6, French, - intervalle%20de%20confiance

The tsunamis that hit the southern coast of Thailand inflicted a heavy human toll and widespread infrastructural damage. Official figures report 5, 300 dead and 3, 100 missing. The preliminary estimate of physical damage is about $0. 8 billion(½ percent of GDP). However, the macroeconomic impact of the damage is expected to be limited. IMF [International Monetary Fund] staff's current projection for economic growth in 2005(about 5½ percent) reflects preliminary estimates of the direct and knock-on effects of the tsunamis, which are expected to reduce growth by ½-1 percentage point. 2, record 12, English, - macroeconomic%20impact

1, record 12, French, - impact%20macro%C3%A9conomique

To estimate the vapour concentrations downwind of an accident site for determination of the flammability or toxicity hazard zone, the atmospheric dispersion of a contaminant vapour is modelled as a "puff" or "plume" according to the decision tree given in Figure 3. A gas leak form a tank is considered a semi-continuous point source, modelling as a plume, whereas the release of a large amount of gas over a very short time period of the order of seconds to minutes is considered an instantaneous point source modelled as a puff. 1, record 18, English, - flammability%20hazard%20zone
