When not in use, the reversers are held in the locked position by 13th stage air and a mechanical lock. Each engine throttle has an additional handle which is used to actuate the thrust reversers. The reverse thrust lever pivots about a point near to the top of the throttle. If reverse trust is required, the throttle must be retarded to closed and then the reverse thrust lever must be pulled up. The Doppler effect on sound waves is experienced in everyday life. When an ambulance passes us, the siren appears to change its note. As it approaches, the pitch is high. As it passes us, the pitch falls. The effect occurs with any type of waves, including light. In the case of sound the effect was described by Christian Andreas Doppler (1803-1853), while for the light it was observed by Armand Fizeau (1819-1896). That’s why sometimes the effect is called the Doppler-Fizeau effect. 5, record 23, English, - Doppler%20effect

Effet Doppler.

The point of beginning is not more controlling than other designated points of a grant and should be selected primarily because of its certainty of identity and facility of location.... Unfortunately, there is a decided tendency in the description of city lots to rely entirely upon the point of beginning for location, and the remaining calls merely give the length and possibly, but not always, the direction of the courses. This practice makes the point of beginning of particular importance, and it is not uncommon to find that a survey is impossible because of the uncertainty of the beginning point.(Skelton, p. 46) 1, record 24, English, - beginning%20point

Similar arguments can be made concerning the shape of a reactor. It can be shown that for a given volume of fuel and moderator a sphere always has the smallest leakage. A sphere is not a practical shape from an engineering point of view. Instead, we use a cylindrical reactor core that has the diameter slightly bigger than the length. There are three ways to tell whether gaffs are sharpened properly. Step 1 : Three ways to maintain climbers : 1. 1. Gauging. This method checks the gaff's length, width, and thickness and the profile of its point.... 1. 2. Plane test. This method may be used with the gauge or independently if the gaffs are sharpened by machine. The test is made by using a soft board to tell whether proper sharpness has been reached. Place the climber with the gaff side down and parallel to the board without applying downward pressure above the gaff. Push the climber along the board. If the gaff is properly contoured and sharpened, it will dig into the wood and hold within approximately one inch. If the climber continues to glide along the board for more than one inch, it needs more honing. 1. 3. Pole cutout. After the climbers have been machine sharpened or gauged(and as often as required thereafter), the gaffs may be tested on a pole. 1, record 50, English, - plane%20test

In a long synthetic aperture (array), SAR focusing involves the removal and compensation of path length differences from the antenna to the target on the ground. 2, record 51, English, - SAR%20focusing
Record number: 51, Textual support number: 2 CONT
The main advantage of a focused synthetic aperture is that it increases its array length over those radar signals that can be processed, and thus increases potential SAR resolution at any range. SAR focusing is a necessary process when the length of a synthetic array is a significant fraction of the range to ground being imaged, as the lines-of-sight(range) from a particular point on the ground to each individual element of the array differ in distance. These range differences, or path length differences, of the radar signals can affect image quality. In a focused SAR image these phase errors can be compensated for by applying a phase correction to the return signal at each synthetic aperture element. Focusing errors may be introduced by unknown or uncorrected platform motion. In an unfocused SAR image, the usable synthetic aperture length is quite limited. 2, record 51, English, - SAR%20focusing

Notice in the drawing routines, especially the arc routines, that familiarity with how the arc routine works is important. In the first arc statement, the command arc is executed and the first point is entered. The center option is chosen before the second point is entered. At this point, you should be able to decipher what is happening in the first nine statements of this function. Next, the arc number value is initialized and set. This value counts how many times you run through this routine. Each time you run through the routine, you create one first arc. The next statement calculates the arc length by calculating the distance between the start and end points of the first arc. Now that you have the arc number and the length of the arcs, you can calculate the overall length of the insulation. Notice the last statement of the routine. That is precisely what happens. In the while loop, the variable total is compared to the wall length. If the total variable is less than the wall length variable, the routine will be run again. Otherwise, the routine is ended. 2, record 56, English, - arc%20routine

The term "constant current" is obtained from the intersection point of the volt ampere curve and the welding arc voltage. If the welder maintains a constant arc length, the welding current will remain the same. Should the welder raise or lower the torch height, a new voltage intersection line is obtained. This movement of the torch raises or lowers the welding power supply output current. Notice that the curve is not straight but drooping. Because of this characteristic, the machines may also be called "droopers". 1, record 62, English, - drooper

This notion of topological dimension has been formalized in the twentieth century on the basis of the idea of Poincaré(1905, Chap. III, S3) to let a point have zero dimension, to relate the dimension of a space to the way it can be divided by boundaries, and to use mathematical induction. Thus curves can be divided by cuts which are of zero dimension(i. e. by points) and so have one dimension, surfaces can be divided by cuts of one dimension(i. e. by curves) and so have two dimensions, etc. Cantor's middle-thirds set had no place in Euclid's Elements, of course, but it may be said to have topological dimension d=O because it is a subset of R with zero length(and so has neither breadth nor length). 2, record 76, English, - topological%20dimension

Castor is a secretion found in both sexes of the beaver, and it accumulates in two pear-shaped bags on the abdomen of the animal. The sacs are about the length of a finger, and at the thickest point are about the diameter of the thumb. They contain a greasy mass of yellowish-brown, reddish or blackish viscous substance.("A Subtle Something" by Charles J. McGuirk Saturday Evening Post. Dec. 4, 1926). 1, record 78, English, - castor

Roughness length z0 is a measure of the roughness of the surface. It is not normally measured directly, but is defined as the height at which the wind speed becomes zero. It is generally not the same as surface height. For example z0 for a forest is always greater than z0 for short grass.... From the point of view of surface layer ground based measurements, z0 is useful in estimating the effect of the ground on the flow. Especially, large values of z0 give larger mean eddy sizes... 5, record 82, English, - roughness%20length

4, record 82, French, - longueur%20de%20rugosit%C3%A9

This is achieved by adding external windings, which "corrugate" the confining magnetic field at every point in space perpendicular to the currents flowing in the plasma. 1, record 92, English, - M%20and%20S%20configuration
