The proper maintenance of fuel line and fittings is particularly important because of the flammability of fuel.... Fuel lines must be routed and supported in such a manner that they will not be damaged by vibration, abrasion, or chafing. Fuel lines must be kept separate from electrical wiring except in cases where this is not possible. If fuel line and electrical wiring must be routed together, the fuel line must be located below the electrical wiring and clamped securely to the aircraft structure.... Maintenance of pulp viscosity is the principal reason that the kraft cook must be terminated at a point where a substantial level of residual lignin remains with the fibers. A derivation termed the G-factor(exactly analogous to the H-factor) can be applied for viscosity reduction, i. e., combinations of time and temperature that give the same G-factor can be expected to produce pulp with the same viscosity. Since the G-factor increases more rapidly with temperature than the H-factor, it follows that higher cooking temperatures have a proportionally greater effect on viscosity reduction.

[In a restricted marine environment] If the climate is arid, evaporation exceeds inflow, and the water becomes hypersaline.... Under conditions of aridity, the restricted sea has adjacent lands with little or no stream action other than torrential episodes which may occasionally wash in detrital material. The sea may attain high temperatures, with excessive evaporation, and development of salinity greater than that of the open sea. Excessive evaporation produces a lowering of water level, and induces a permanent inflowing current of normal sea water across, or through, the restricting barriers.... If it were not for the continued inflow current, the history of restricted seas in arid climates would be short. The water would completely evaporate, leaving behind a relatively thin coating of saline residue. Maintenance of inflow from the open sea provides a continuous supply of dissolved salts, and a balance is reached between evaporation and inflow for given conditions. Inevitably, the concentration of salts within the restricted area is increased and may reach the saturation point for some.
