The nanomotor has a positioning stroke up to some centimeters while operating with atomic resolution and thus builds a bridge over eight orders of magnitude. The nanomotor is a piezo driven linear motor consisting of a cylindrical housing and a slider with a free axial hole inside. It utilizes a piezo tube for fine positioning and a pulse wave produced by the same piezo tube for coarse movements. Every point of its stroke can be reached with a speed of up to 5 mm/s. In its free axial hole the nanomotor can transport a tip, a hose, an electrode, a hypodermic needle, a glass fiber or even a microgripper. The nanomotor is available in three different versions. The "small" nanomotor is half the size of a match stick. It can lift six times of its own mass. The dynamic force of this nanomotor is so high, that even imprints in diamond surfaces can be produced. Special versions of the nanomotor can operate in ultra high vacuum, in liquid helium, even under water or as non-magnetic drives. 3, record 25, English, - nanomotor

Elastic collision law. An important detail which has not been discussed carefully enough in the literature is the collision law for particle–particle and particle–wall collisions in the presence of a deforming particle shape or deforming wall. The collision law that we use is an elastic one, in the following sense : linear andangular momentum are conserved, and the direction of the relative normal surface-to-surface velocityv[ cross-radial] at the point ofcontact is reversed upon collision(but the magnitude is unchanged). It is most convenient to consider binary collisions only and then just take the limit that the ‘‘mass’’ of a hard wall goes to infinity. 1, record 28, English, - elastic%20collision%20law

On appelle «élastique» un processus dans lequel l’énergie cinétique est conservée. In English, the singular "datum"(plural form "data", French equivalent :"donnée", "données" in the plural form) is used to mean a single reference element(point, line, surface, etc.), a measurement or a result taken individually. The Latin plural "data" is also used as a mass noun and can be used in the singular or in the plural. The use in the singular is criticized but is more and more frequent, at least in day-to-day usage. [According to the Webster's] 5, record 29, English, - interview%20data

The coupling of isoelectric focusing on immobilized pH gradients(IPG) with electrospray-mass spectrometry(ES-MS) was applied to the characterization of proteins according to two different and important properties, such as net surface charge and molecular mass. From a technical point of view, these methods are complementary, since ES-MS requires ion-free samples as usually supplied by isoelectric focusing on IPGs. 3, record 30, English, - Electrospray%2DMass%2DSpectrometry

Ripple control generally refers to systems that are applied to electrical networks for demand side management purposes. They offer a means of communication from a central point to any point on the LV [Low-Voltage] network for action at end-users’ premises. Ripple control is mainly dedicated to mass applications but individual and specific applications can also be addressed. Applications are easily programmed by the operator in control consoles and receivers(Stand-alone receivers beside the meter or receiver integrated into electronic meters). 3, record 36, English, - ripple%20control

Ripple control is a well proven technology since many decades to control consumers in the whole grid for load optimization. This will be done switching on/off e.g. storage heatings, direct controlled heatings, etc. as well as tariff switching, monthly demand reset in electricity meters, and the control of other consumers like street lighting, etc. The components of a ripple control (RC) system are the load control centre, installed in the utility control level, which controls all connected substations. There are installed the RC transmitters with the couplings, which inject the RC signals into the grids, and in the grids there are RC receivers at the consumers site, which execute the transmitted commands. 2, record 36, English, - ripple%20control

The local orbital reference system is defined at each point of the orbit by three unit vectors. Spacecraft axes. The three orthogonal axes of rotation : roll, pitch and yaw. If the spacecraft has a recognisable longitudinal axis or a specified forward direction of flight, the axes are analogous to those of an aircraft, where the roll axis is the longitudinal axis; the pitch axis is in the plane of the wings; and the yaw axis is the "vertical" axis, orthogonal to both the roll and pitch axes. The axes are mutually perpendicular, with an "origin" at the vehicle's centre of mass. For a winged spacecraft such as a Space Shuttle, the similarity with an aircraft is obvious. For expendable launch vehicles the roll axis is the axis which is vertical at launch and the other axes are more-or-less arbitrarily assigned since the vehicle rotates about the roll axis in flight.... The axes of a cylindrical spacecraft(e. g. Apollo, Suyuz, etc.) are similar to those of an ELV [Expendable Launch Vehicle] at launch, but one orbit assume the axis-definition of an aircraft(i. e. defined relative to the pilot's seat). The axes of a satellite mirror those of an aircraft "flying along the orbital arc" : the roll axis is aligned with the direction of travel; the yaw axis passes through the sub-satellite point; and the pitch axis is orthogonal to the other two. For a satellite in an equatorial orbit, the pitch axis is aligned approximately with the Earth's spin axis. The pitch axis is also the spin axis for the spin-stabilised satellite. 3, record 38, English, - pitch%20axis

The term Attract & Kill(or Lure and Kill) is normally used for pheromone(or other attractant) based control methods that use an insecticide to kill the target pest. Mass Trapping, as the name implies, depends on the use of a mechanical device(insect trap) to remove the insect from the population. From a theoretical point of view, the approaches are very similar. The primary technique used for checking the inconsistency of precipitation data has been a double mass analysis. In this technique the accumulation at a given station is plotted against the average accumulation for a group of stations. When the number of stations in the group is reasonably large, the accumulation of the group average should be quite stable. Thus, if there is a change in the relationship between a single station and the group at some point in time, it is likely that there has been a change in the precipitation measured at that station. This deviation can be removed by multiplying a portion of the record at that station by a factor that will produce a generally straight line relationship. 2, record 43, English, - double%2Dmass%20analysis

Sugar beets are processed as follows : after removing the juice from the beet pulp, it is refined by double carbonation, during which impure substances such as colorants, salts and proteins are precipitated. After carbonation the juice is heated several times and thickened until it reaches its saturation point. Then it crystallises and a crystalline mass if formed : the masse-cuite. In high-speed centrifuges the masse-cuite is separated into a solid part(sugar) and a liquid part(syrup). Trickle irrigation laterals can be divided into two categories : line source emitters and point source emitters. Line source emitters are used when plants are closely spaced within a row, with rows several feet apart as with most vegetable crops.... Point source emitters are used when widely spaced point sources of water are needed, as in the case of large containers or orchard crops where the trees are spaced several feet apart in each direction. This type of system utilizes one(or more) emitting device attached to a pipeline at or near the base of the plant, irrigating a single container or a bulb of soil surrounding the root mass of one plant. 3, record 53, English, - in%2Dline%20emitter

All clouds, from the puffy cumulus to the wispy cirrus, is a portion of air that has condensed into visible moisture. Cooling of such a portion of air to its dew point is by far the main reason for cloud formation. The main cause for the cooling lies in some process which causes air to rise or be forced upward. Large warm air masses may slide up the slope of a colder heavier mass of air. As the warmer air overrides the cooler, the warm air expands and is cooled itself by the expansion of air molecules, thus finally reaching a dew-point temperature resulting in widespread cloudiness. All clouds consist of minute water droplets, ice crystals, or a combination of both. 1, record 59, English, - cloud%20formation

Workpieces having dimensions less than 4 in. can be powder coated with a device known as an electrostatic fluidized bed. In this process, powder is held in a container having an open top and a porous bottom through which an upward flow of air causes the powder mass to levitate or "fluidize". Charging electrodes near the surface impart an electrical charge to the powder. Electrically grounded workpieces pass over the surface of the bed and collect a coating of powder. The coating is then cured in a baking oven. There are techniques for applying dry powder coatings without the use of electrostatics.... These processes typically involve preheating the workpiece to a temperature substantially above the melting point of the powder and then applying the powder, either by dipping the workpiece into a fluidized bed or by spraying air-suspended powder directly onto the hot surface of the workpiece. The powder melts immediately upon contact and flows to form a film, which is subsequently cured in a bake oven. 2, record 67, English, - sublimation%20coating

A rectangular array of horizontal and vertical input or output leads with diode or correed crosspoints at the intersection, used as a means of switching from any input to any output.(SMICO, 71 : 238) In circuit switching at least, the matrix has proven to be the most difficult section to reduce to electronics partly because of the mass of contacts that is represented, but also because the best electronic device is not as good a switch point as are metallic contacts.(LEETEL, 76 : 90) 1, record 77, English, - matrix

(TECHNI, E-2875: 6) 1, record 77, French, - matrice

The term scale(French, "écaille") is employed with several different meanings; it may refer to a mass limited by an overthrust fault left in connection with its roots, which cannot be distinguished from a nappe of the second order, except by its smaller dimensions. The term may also refer to a nappe fragment that has been isolated between two other units, and which is considered secondary from the point of view of the interpretation. Finally, it may refer to secondary nappes resulting from the subdivision of a major nappe through folding. 1, record 78, English, - scale

1, record 78, French, - %C3%A9caille
