Soudage à l'arc tournant. [...] L'objet principal du soudage à l'arc tournant est de fournir un moyen de soudage bout à bout de sections tubulaires avec un certain nombre d'avantages par rapport au soudage par étincelage [...] Un arc est amorcé entre deux tubes à souder bout à bout, placés en regard, sur une machine appropriée, à une distance de l'ordre du millimètre et connectés chacun à l'une des polarités d'un générateur de soudage à l'arc classique MAG. La présence de deux bobines d'excitation parcourues par le courant d'arc fait apparaître dans l'interface un champ magnétique transversal sous l'action duquel l'arc se déplace. Les pôles cathodique et anodique formés localement sur les tubes et portés à la température souhaitée se déplacent également avec l'arc sur tout le pourtour.
