Cement Skin EPS Core Building System :Proof of Concept Testing-Preliminary Structural Evaluation. This research was carried out on a cementitious-skin structural sandwich wall having a core of expanded polystyrene(EPS). As a simple site-built assembly, the method was initially intended for low-cost owner-build applications.

Mur en général préfabriqué qui comporte, dans son épaisseur une âme isolante enfermée entre deux parois porteuses.

Le coffrage isolant Polycrete est composé de deux séries de panneaux symétriques et parallèles en polystyrène expansé de type 3 qui s'emboîtent les uns dans les autres gràce à des profilés de polymère en forme de «T». Cette double paroi est retenue par des tiges d'assemblage métalliques qui s'insèrent dans les profilés. La longueur des tiges détermine l'épaisseur du mur et, par conséquent, celle de la cavité où le béton sera coulé. Ces tiges d'assemblage servent aussi de support à l'acier d'armature. Une fois le béton mis en place, on obtient un mur «sandwich» porteur qui possède une résistance de loin supérieure aux structures conventionnelles.
