English

Subject field(s)
  • Optical Telecommunications
  • Photoelectricity and Electron Optics
CONT

... propagation characteristics of glass fiber.

Key term(s)
  • compound glass fibre
  • glass fibre
  • multicomponent glass fibre
  • all glass fiber
  • all glass fibre
  • all-glass fiber

French

Domaine(s)
  • Télécommunications optiques
  • Photo-électricité et optique électronique

Record 2 2004-02-02

English

Subject field(s)
  • Satellite Telecommunications
CONT

The structures are designed to provide an interface between light traveling in a glass waveguide and some other optical medium such as an electro-optic polymer. They consist of surface and buried waveguide sections. The buried waveguide sections are centered 5 to 10 mm below the surface and provide low propagation losses and convenient coupling to optical fibers.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Télécommunications par satellite
CONT

Pour un bon couplage à la fibre, la structure idéale est un guide d'onde enterré de section carrée de côté 6µm avec une différence d'indice gaine-cour de l'ordre de 10-2.

Record 3 2003-06-05

English

Subject field(s)
  • Scientific Research
  • Plant Breeding
  • Bioengineering
  • Biotechnology
DEF

The propagation of plants in a controlled, artificial environment, using plastic or glass culture vessels, aseptic techniques, and a defined growing medium.

CONT

The procedures used for in vitro propagation comprise : (1) the selection of suitable explants, their sterilisation and transfer to nutrient medium, (2) the proliferation of shoots on multiplication medium and (3) the transfer of shoots to a rooting (or storage) medium and planting out.

CONT

The invention provides a process for a least semi-automated plant tissue culture propagation comprising: providing plant tissue culture containing a large number of densely packed meristematic areas, automatically separating and thinning the tissue into small clusters of meristematic tissues, bulk transporting the separated tissue aseptically to a separating apparatus wherein the tissue is washed and propagules of substantially uniform size and substantially free of phytotoxic cell debris are obtained, aseptically transporting the propagules to a culture vessel and distributing the propagules on the surface of a culture medium.

Domaine(s)
  • Recherche scientifique
  • Amélioration végétale
  • Technique biologique
  • Biotechnologie
DEF

Subject field(s)
  • Optics
  • Optical Telecommunications
CONT

The refractive index corresponds to the slowing-down factor; it is given by the ratio of propagation speed in the air in the glass.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Optique
  • Télécommunications optiques
CONT

L'indice de réfraction correspond au facteur de ralentissement (rapport des vitesses de propagation dans l'air et dans le verre).

  • propagation within an enclosure

French

Domaine(s)
  • Cultures (Agriculture)
DEF

Procédé qui consiste à placer les boutures dans une atmosphère confinée de façon à diminuer l'évaporation, maintenir une température assez élevée et favoriser ainsi la reprise.
