Record number: 2, Textual support number: 1 DEF
A propeller system that allows the pilot to adjust the pitch during flight by means of a hydraulic mechanism. 3, record 2, English, - variable%2Dpitch%20propeller
Record number: 2, Textual support number: 1 CONT
The blades of a variable-pitch propeller are attached to a mechanism in the hub that rotates the entire blade about an axis that runs along the length of the blade … This allows the blade pitch to be varied continuously by the pilot to maintain optimum efficiency at any airspeed. 4, record 2, English, - variable%2Dpitch%20propeller
Record number: 2, Textual support number: 1 OBS
Variable-pitch propellers include propellers whose pitch can be set up automatically and propellers whose pitch can be set up manually (i.e. by pilot’s operation). Although "controllable-pitch propeller" can be a synonym of "variable-pitch propeller," most authors consider that controllable-pitch propellers only include propellers whose pitch can be changed manually. 5, record 2, English, - variable%2Dpitch%20propeller

Record number: 2, Textual support number: 1 CONT
4, record 2, French, - h%C3%A9lice%20%C3%A0%20pas%20variable

A true pitch propeller is one that makes use of the blade-element theory. Each element(section) of the blade travels at a different rate of speed, that is, the tip sections travel faster than the sections close to the hub. When the elements(sections) are arranged so that each is set at the proper angle to the relative airstream, they all advance the same distance during any single revolution of the propeller. 1, record 17, English, - true%20pitch%20propeller

3, record 17, French, - h%C3%A9lice%20%C3%A0%20pas%20constant
