Ancillary care is that which is not required to make a study scientifically valid, to ensure a trial' s safety, or to redress research injuries. Thus, stabilising patients to enrol them in a research protocol, monitoring drug interactions, or treating adverse reactions to experimental drugs are not ancillary care. The word tort comes from le Latin term torquere, which means "twisted or wrong. "The English common law recognized no separate legal action in tort. Instead, the British legal system afforded litigants two central avenues of redress : trespass for direct injuries, and actions "on the case" for indirect injuries. Gradually, the common law recognized other civil actions, including defamation, libel, and slander. 2, record 14, English, - action%20in%20tort

In 1991, in order to publicize Japan's regime of enforced prostitution during the Second World War, activists started to collect data about the women victims of sexual slavery. After 50 years of silence, women survivors, in their 70s and 80s, came forward to demand justice and redress. One of the main outcomes of this lengthy and sustained documentation work was the Women's International War Crimes Tribunal on Japanese Military Sexual Slavery. The Tokyo Tribunal, as it came to be called, was held in December 2000 in Tokyo. The Tribunal was attended by 70 victims and more than 1100 participants. The final judgment was passed in December 2001, at a Women'sInternational Tribunal held in The Hague, Netherlands. 1, record 29, English, - Women%27s%20International%20War%20Crimes%20Tribunal%20on%20Japanese%20Military%20Sexual%20Slavery

... methods adopted by States for securing redress from another State by taking retaliatory measures. Formerly, the term was restricted to the seizure of property or persons, but in its modern acceptation connotes coercive measures adopted by one State against another for the purpose of settling some dispute brought about by the latter's illegal or unjustified conduct. 2, record 55, English, - reprisals
Record number: 55, Textual support number: 1 OBS
The distinction between reprisals and retortion is that reprisals consist of acts which would generally otherwise be quite illegal whereas retortion consists of retaliatory conduct to which no legal objection can be taken. Reprisals may assume various forms, for example, a boycott of the goods of a particular State, an embargo, a naval demonstration, or bombardment. 2, record 55, English, - reprisals

Reprisals can be positive or negative. Positive reprisals are such acts as would under ordinary circumstances involve an international delinquency. ... international law does demand a minimum international standard for the treatment of aliens. States are not obliged to admit aliens to their territory, but, if they permit aliens to come, they must treat them in a civilized manner. To put it in technical terms, failure to comply with the minimum international standards "engages the international responsibility" of the defendant state, and the national state of the injured alien may "exercise its right of diplomatic protection", i. e. may make a claim, through diplomatic channels, against the other state, in order to obtain compensation or some other form of redress. 1, record 70, English, - treatment%20of%20aliens
