English

Subject field(s)

  • Meteorological Forecasting, Data Measurement and Analysis
CONT

The temperature trend is the average rate of increase or decrease at the grid point over the time period of interest. It is determined by simple linear regression through the data available for each grid point. They are expressed in degrees Celsius per decade.

CONT

Starting from the end of gestation there is a phase of rapid cellular activation, followed by cellular regression(cellular remodelling), at varying rates, that ends with the cessation of lactation or dry-off... All of these physiological mechanisms result in a typical pattern of milk yield over time..., characterized by an initial phase of increasing production which reaches a maximum(lactation peak) and then declines more or less rapidly until dry-off.

Thus several features are extracted from the time-dependent signature data, which gives us the fixed-template representation for the signature biometric. The following features are selected-regression constants, compactness, signature length, major stroke length and angle, connected component count, holecount, stroke count, hole area and signing time.

Subject field(s)
  • Climatology
DEF

The path of realized climate change which takes into account the lags in the climate system, as opposed to equilibrium change.

CONT

We created a reduced-form climate model that is based upon a series of previously conducted transient atmosphere-ocean general circulation model(AOGCM) simulations. For the model, we constructed a set of multiple regression transformation equations that relate the time history of radiative forcing to future transient climate change. These transformation equations were derived for a global grid and enable us to estimate future transient climate for a number of variables and for a wide range of CO2 and aerosol emission scenarios.

Genetic and Economic Aspects of Dairy Cattle Improvement Programs. OBJECTIVES : Document changes over time in relative economic values of a multitude of traits available on dairy bulls. Illustrate relationship between choosing bulls with a linear program and choosing bulls with other methods of selection. APPROACH : Economic values of predicted differences for milk, type, percent fat, fat, percent progeny and protein and linear type classifications will be estimated with linear programming and multiple regression for 1979 through 1989. Trends based on the same sires in each summary and trends based on the same quality of sires will be compared.(CRIS/USDA data base)
