Penetration diving. In technical penetration diving, there are broadly two approaches. The conventional approach involves the use of continuous guidelines laid from a wreck reel, tied just outside the entrance point, just inside the entrance point, and at regular intervals inside(to mitigate the risk of a cut line, or a "line trap"... An alternative approach, popularised by deep wreck divers in the American Northeast, is referred to as "progressive penetration. "Progressive penetration eschews the use of reels, but the diver makes several successive penetrations, each successively deeper than the last, memorising the layout for both the inward and outward journeys. 3, record 5, English, - penetration%20dive

Truck hunting is wheel set oscillation caused by the dynamic response of a railway car truck when operating above certain speeds. The truck oscillates between the rails with hard flange contact occurring at regular intervals of 30 to 50 feet. Truck hunting occurs on tangent track and is more severe where the track is stiff and where CWR [continuous welded rail] is laid. It normally does not begin until around 45 to 50 mph in the case of cars with worn wheels, and 55 to 60 mph for cars with new wheels. 3, record 18, English, - truck%20hunting

Flight conveyer. Scrapers or flights of various materials are mounted at spaced intervals perpendicular to the direction of travel on one or more endless, power-driven chains operating within a trough. The flights are attached to the power-driven chain and serve to push bulk materials along the trough. The Aircraft to Satellite Data Relay(ASDAR) programme is sponsored by an International meteorological group in order to augment the collection of upper air meteorological data, and thereby improve the accuracy of global weather forescasting. It has been developed by Matra Marconi Space, UK in collaboration with the WMO to enable aircraft to generate and transmit real-time meteorological reports via geostationary meteorological satellites for global relay. It is an automated system offering significant advantages, including reduced crew responsibility delays and errors. ASDAR, operating in conjunction with meteorological satellites, has proved to be a versatile tool in obtaining meteorological data automatically from flights over both oceans and continents, especially over areas not serviced by meteorological stations. In addition, during the ascent and descent phases of the aircraft, observations at regular pressure intervals provide a detailed vertical atmospheric temperature profile near the airports. The meteorological data provided by this system has proved to be very useful for improving the weather forecasting service. 1, record 38, English, - Aircraft%20to%20Satellite%20Data%20Relay

DTED(Digital Terrain Elevation Data) represents a matrix or grid of measured elevation posts over a portion of the earth's surface. The elevation posts are spaced at regular horizontal intervals, measured in Geographic Lat/Long [latitude/longitude] units, with vertical elevation values in meters. Each row of elevation posts is sometimes termed a profile. Ripstop nylon is a light-weight nylon fabric with inter-woven ripstop reinforcement threads in a crosshatch pattern. The material comes in many different colors and sizes, including thickness. It is woven with coarse, strong warp and filling yarns spaced at intervals so that tears will not spread. Ripstop nylon produced for various purposes may be waterproof, water resistant, fire resistant, or have zero porosity (will not allow air or water through), and can come in light, medium and heavy weights. Textures range from a soft and silk-like material to a crisp or stiff fabric that sounds like a paper bag when moved. 6, record 49, English, - ripstop

The term "pension" is... applied rather than "annuity" to the regular payments made under public pension plans where no contract has been entered into for the payment of a specific amount of annuity. Although the terms "pension" and "annuity" have become almost synonymous, "annuity" should more properly be reserved for the technical processes involved, namely a series of equal payments made at equidistant intervals. 4, record 53, English, - pension

Trails through some forests are blazed marked. Located on the trail side of the tree, the blaze is an axe-cut gouge from which bark and some outer wood layers have been removed. More recently in an effort to protect the trees, land managers have used bright-colored paint spots or metal disks instead of new blazes. Any of these trail markers are eye to chest high and they appear at regular intervals on selected trees.... New digital photoelectric correlator... A simple electronic correlator for two-time photoelectric correlation measurements has been developed. It functions by registering the distribution of time intervals between pairs of photoelectric pulses. Its basic elements are a clock that is started by the first pulse and is used to digitize the time intervals, a pair of fast counters for counting subsequent pulses, and a set of data registers. The pulses are directed to one or the other counter alternately at regular clock intervals. 2, record 69, English, - photoelectric%20correlator

Precession error. Frictional forces in the gyros system cause it to precess. This precession causes a creep or drift in the reading on the card, amounting approximately 3 degrees in 15 minutes. The gyro is also subject to apparent precession. Gyroscopic inertia keeps the spinning gyro fixed in space so that, relative to space, it does not move. But the earth rotating underneath it gives it an apparent motion relative to the earth. This causes an apparent drift, or precession, which varies with latitude... Precession error, both mechanical and apparent, must be corrected for at regular intervals of about 15 minutes. 1, record 91, English, - apparent%20precession%20error

1, record 91, French, - erreur%20de%20pr%C3%A9cession%20apparente

Precession error. Frictional forces in the gyro system cause it to precess. 1, record 97, English, - mechanical%20precession

1, record 98, French, - cl%C3%B4ture
