RENORMALIZATION [8 records]

CONT

In practice, DLA clusters are grown from the centre of a cell and one record the number of sites in the cluster when its radius of gyration becomes equal to the cell size. Then the number of such occurrences is determined as a function of the number of sites in the cluster at that time. The data are fitted to a Gaussian, and the resulting curve is integrated to obtain Monte Carlo estimates of the coefficients in the renormalization transformation.

If the renormalization group is constructed by our scheme for a lattice having a general anisotropic 3 corner atom and the tie generating scheme of Figure 26, the only nontrivial fixed point corresponds to the Sierspinski gasket.

Près d'un point fixe, le groupe de renormalisation peut en général être linéarisé et les valeurs propres des relations de récurrence donnent les différents points.

DEF

The idea of renormalization can be understood as a successive thinning out of the degrees of freedom in the partition function.

CONT

K. G. Wilson at Cornell in 1970 surmounted the difficulties and developed the method of renormalization into a technical instrument that has proven its worth in innumerable experiments.

CONT

Following up the twenty year old work of M. E. Fisher, it was shown(SC, SK) that for anisotropic two-dimensional lattices there can be two-dimensional distributions of zeros. Shortly before this, B. Derrida, L. DeSeze, and C. Itzykson found fractal patterns in so-called hierarchical lattices. The particular attraction of this discovery was that it used renormalization theory in an essential way, described in detail in the following section.

OBS
