Prior to("Quia Emptores") the number of subtenures had greatly increased by the process of subinfeudation. By this process a tenant, instead of alienating his land outright for a capital sum, created a new tenurial relationship between himself and another whereby the other person became his tenant of the land in return for a perpetual grant or service. The new tenant might create a further subtenure and in theory the process could go on "ad infinitum". "Quia Emptores" accomplished two important objectives. In the first place it abolished alienation by subinfeudation and secondly, it endorsed the principle of alienation by substitution.(Anger & Honsberger, 2nd ed., 1985, p. 23) 1, record 14, English, - alienation%20by%20subinfeudation

Economists include a normal return to management services, as determined competitively in all industries; and a normal return to capital, as determined competitively everywhere by industries of equal riskiness. In the above sense we may say that "normal profits" are included in costs and that "excess profits" are competed away by entry of new firms and "abnormal losses" are eliminated by long-run exit of firms. 1, record 41, English, - excess%20profit

In a typical pulp and/or paper mill, about one-half of the process steam is used "indirectly" in tube banks, drying cylinders, and heating jackets. In these applications, the condensate is available for return to the boiler house. A condensate return system involves capital costs for pumps, tanks, traps and piping, but is easily justified because of heat credits and savings in raw water treatment. Where contamination of the condensate is possible(as, for example, with evaporators or black liquor heaters), some method of monitoring the condensate must be employed to prevent return of a fouled stream. 1, record 58, English, - tube%20bank

1, record 58, French, - faisceau%20de%20tubes

The opportunity cost of using investment resources in a project rather than in their next best alternative use; usually expressed in the form of an interest rate. The reduction in non-project benefits in relation to project objectives that is a result of using capital in the project. In practice, usually a weighted average calculation of the cost of securing project capital from various sources. In financial analysis, the weighted average cost to the firm or farm of equity capital and of borrowed capital from likely sources. In economic analysis, usually the weighted average cost of capital to the economy as a whole, but sometimes the weighted average cost of capital to the public sector. The rate at which benefits and costs are discounted in calculating the net present worth, the net benefit-investment ratio, or the benefit-cost ratio. The cut-off rate for project analysis, and hence the minimum acceptable internal rate of return. 3, record 59, English, - opportunity%20cost%20of%20capital

1, record 59, Spanish, - costo%20de%20oportunidad%20del%20capital
