Application of the brake pedal, which is linked to the master cylinder piston rod, causes the piston rod to push the piston forward inside the master cylinder casting. A slight forward movement blocks the compensating port, and the buildup of pressure begins. This pressure is transmitted to the brake assembly. When the brake pedal is released and returns to the "off" position, the piston return spring pushes the front piston seal and the piston back to full "off" position against the piston return stop. This again clears the compensating port. Fluid that was moved into the brake assembly and brake connecting line is then pushed back to the master cylinder by the brake piston which is returned to the "off" position by the pressure of the brake piston return springs. Any pressure or excess volume of fluid is relieved through the compensating port and passes back to the fluid reservoir. This prevents the master cylinder from locking or causing the brakes to drag.

The... stealth buoy... has been designed to lie on the ocean floor until it rises to the surface in response to a sound, such as the noise of a ship's propeller. It can monitor an area within a kilometre or two of its placement, transmit data to a receiving station, and then return to the ocean floor to wait for the next event. The air-deployable buoy is a one metre long cylinder and weighs 11-kilograms. It contains batteries, a GPS [global positioning system] device and an Iridium satellite transceiver that can communicate over very long distances, and it is designed to work to a depth of 300 metres... It raises and lowers itself by using an elastic collar that inflates to make the buoy rise, and deflates so that it can sink to the bottom again.

Available in 6, 8, or 10 way splitting capability. The eight way head is standard. The hydraulic cylinder for the push plate has a 6" diameter and develops 42 tons of splitting force. An hydraulic splitter head is available as an option. This adjustable splitter head allows for exact aligning of the log to ensure optimum splits for packaging, firewood and stove wood. With the fully welded construction you are able to split more than one log at a time. The hydraulic return is rapid allowing for a 6 second cycle.

When air from the compressor is forced into the brake pipe, compressed air is stored inside the main reservoir and the combined reservoirs. At that point, the position of the control valve establishes communication between brake cylinders and atmosphere. This is called charging. Brake cylinder release springs return the pistons to release position. There is no pressure between brake shoes and wheels. Everything is prepared for brake application.
