The Space Shuttle system consists of four primary elements : an orbiter spacecraft, two Solid Rocket Boosters(SRB), an external tank to house fuel and oxidizer and three Space Shuttle main engines.... The Shuttle will transport cargo into near Earth orbit 100 to 217 nautical miles(115 to 250 statute miles) above the Earth. This cargo or payload is carried in a bay 15 feet in diameter and 60 ft long. Major system requirements are that the orbiter and the two solid rocket boosters be reusable.... The orbiter has carried a flight crew of up to eight persons. A total of 10 persons could be carried under emergency conditions. The basic mission is 7 days in space. The crew compartment has a shirtsleeve environment, and the acceleration load is never greater than 3 Gs. In its return to Earth, the orbiter has a cross-range maneuvering capability of 1, 100 nautical miles(1, 265 statute miles). The Space Shuttle is launched in an upright position, with thrust provided by the three Space Shuttle engines and the two SRB. After about 2 minutes, the two boosters are spent and are separated from the external tank. They fall into the ocean at predetermined points and are recovered for reuse. 4, record 7, English, - space%20shuttle

4, record 7, French, - navette%20spatiale%20am%C3%A9ricaine

Besides aerobic biological treatment and mechanical separation processes, anaerobic treatment becomes more and more important in the purification of liquid waste with high organic load. The search for an economic treatment procedure leads to a two-stage anaerobic-aerobic treatment concept. Aerobic secondary treatment is required because the purification capacity will not be sufficient with anaerobic treatment only. Comparing two different anaerobic procedures, suitability, advantages and disadvantages can be determined. These procedures are the anaerobic contact sludge procedure(digester) and the up-flow reactor(UASB). The following aerobic stages are identical, they consist of activated sludge tank and final sedimentation tank with separate return sludge flow. 4, record 14, English, - up%2Dflow%20reactor

The unique results achieved with supercalendering are due to the intermediate fibrous rolls(sometimes referred to as bowls or filled rolls) which possess elastic or plastic properties. With the application of load on the nips, the metal rolls cause a depression or deformation on the fibrous rolls at the point of contact, and the deformation spreads out on either side of the nip(Figure 18-28). When rotated, this spread area will creep because of the constant effort of the material to return to its normal shape. This flow causes a relative motion of the filled roll surface against the metal roll surface, thus producing rolling friction, which helps to give the polishing and smoothing effects. The intensity of action is governed by the amount of plastic flow and by the nip contact pressure. 2, record 16, English, - filled%20roll
