A bodybuilding exercise performed by completing the following movements: stand in front of a barbell and, while keeping the legs slightly bent and less than a shoulder-width apart, bend over to grab the bar with an overhand grip (palms facing down or towards the body), hands slightly more than a shoulder-width apart. Keeping the arms straight and legs slightly bent, raise the barbell until you are standing straight, using only the hip and lower back muscles. Return the bar to approximately shin level between each repetition, and then to the floor after each set.

OBS

Like the Romanian deadlift, this exercise is not a true deadlift because the bar is not raised from the ground with each repetition. It differs from the Romanian deadlift in that the legs are slightly closer to each other and are kept straight(not locked).

OBS

This exercise targets mainly the hip and lower back muscles.

OBS

The terms "stiff-legged deadlift," "stiff legged deadlift" and "straight leg deadlift," though grammatically questionable, are often used in this context.

Cet exercice, comme le soulevé de terre roumain, n'est pas un vrai soulevé de terre puisque la barre n'est pas soulevée du sol à chaque répétition. La différence avec le soulevé de terre roumain est que dans le soulevé de terre, jambes tendues, il faut placer les jambes assez rapprochées et les garder droites (mais pas verrouillées).

Cet exercice sollicite principalement les muscles de la région lombaire (bas du dos) et des hanches.

This eighth edition of the Technical Dictionary of Road Terms is published by the World Road Association(PIARC) on the occasion of the XXIIIrd World Road Congress hosted in Paris in September 2007. The fifth French/English edition of the Dictionary(1982) was used for its translation into fifteen other languages : Arabic, Chinese, Czech, Danish, Dutch, German, Greek, Hungarian, Italian, Japanese, Polish, Romanian, Russian, Spanish and Slovak. Each of these cross-referenced versions takes up the numbering of the basic Dictionary; some versions also include English and French terms; other versions cannot be used without this Dictionary because they do not contain English/French terms(but only the numbering). The sixth edition(1990) was translated into Arabic, Czech, Greek, Lithuanian, Slovak, Spanish and Portuguese. The seventh edition(1997) was translated into Hungarian, Latvian, Romanian and Vietnamese.
