The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) is the global governing body of the Paralympic Movement. The IPC organizes the Summer and Winter Paralympic Games, and serves as the International Federation for 13 sports, for which it supervises and co-ordinates the World Championships and other competitions.

The first Olympic-style games for athletes with a disability – now called the "Paralympic Games" – were held after the 1960 Olympic Summer Games in Rome, Italy. The first Paralympic Winter Games took place in Örnsköldsvik, Sweden, in 1976. The serve is an important element of Olympic table tennis and the same is true of the Paralympic version. Under Olympic rules, the ball must be placed in the open palm of the hand, thrown at least 16 cm into the air perpendicular to the table, and struck. In paralympic table tennis, where this is not possible, the ball may be tossed by placing it on the elbow or on the racket.

Table tennis... has been part of the Paralympic programme since the first Games at Rome 1960 when wheelchair athletes competed. Events for standing players were first included at the Toronto 1976 Games. Table tennis only became an Olympic sport at Seoul 1988, so the Paralympic equivalent has a longer history.

In addition to the special rules applicable to the wage-earner, treaty provisions and subordinate legislation also deal with the individual who wishes to set up in business on his own account, or to engage in some other non-salaried activity. These provisions fall under the general rubric of the "right of establishment", and are covered by Articles 52-8 of the Treaty of Rome. The general principle, stated in Article 52, is that Freedom of establishment shall include the right to take up and pursue activities as self-employed persons and to set up and manage undertakings... under the conditions laid down for its own nationals by the law of the country where such establishment is effected.

The promise of a successful alliance between visual aids and instruction appeared early. The magic lantern, an early type of projector and one of the oldest devices, was demonstrated in Rome in 1646 by Athanasius Kircher. It was not until the middle of the 19th century, however, that educators were urged to use this aid in their classrooms. The modern counterpart of this device is now known as the opaque projector.

The International Maritime Academy(IMA) of Trieste is an international institution in the training field for postgraduate studies. Its courses are aimed at participants with a university degree or equivalent education who already work in the Government structures but need some further training to improve the quality of their work. Students come from all over the world. The working language is English. Underground railway systems shall achieve a high degree of importance in the cities, so the architect’s role in planning and construction must be considered in a wider context in the future. A high degree of architectural quality in the appearance of an underground railway leads to its general acceptance as a means of transport. ...
