Field-applied plywood panels. Panels installed at the job site. These panels are used as wall or roof sheathing and are nailed to conventional framing at the construction location, as opposed to "factory applied" where panelized or modular units are finished and ready for installation in completed form.

Factory-built chimney means a chimney consisting entirely of factory-made parts, each designed to be assembled with the other without requiring fabrication on site.

à pied d'œuvre : En langue spécialisée, cette expression signifie «à la base de la construction» (Darmesteter), «très près de la construction qu'on élève» (Quillet). Mais ce sens spécialisé a disparu du LAROG 1982 ainsi que du ROBERT 1985.

Un relevé de la fréquence d'emploi de toutes ces expressions a été fait dans six sources : BACOA 1976 (chap. 1), BOUGR 1977 (pp. 1 à 17 et 173 à 193), DUCON 1968 (vol. 1, pp. 1109 à 1134 et vol. 2, pp. 1391 à 1506), RAPAT 1983 (au complet), TECHN (vol. C3, fasc. 516, 517 et 518), TUBAT 1984 (chap. 7). Sur un grand total de 79 occurrences, la répartition était la suivante : sur place, 40; sur (le) chantier, 35; sur les lieux, 2; in situ, 1; sur le tas, 1; à pied d'oeuvre, 0. Ce résultat indique que, malgré les dictionnaires, la dernière expression est sortie de l'usage.
