Leading up to fall migration, a number of bird species are known to gather at large communal roosting sites, which are often detected by NWS [National Weather Service] Doppler radar. The unique doughnut pattern, known as a "roost ring, "is the result of birds departing their roosting site in all directions, roughly in equal densities. As they travel further from their roosting site and reach higher altitudes, they are detected by radar until they either rise above or drop below the radar beam. 2, record 1, English, - roost%20ring

Layer Housing. Small laying flocks are generally floor housed or allowed to range rather than kept in cages.... Housing requirements for floor and free-range layers are simple and easy to arrange on most small family farms. Provide hens with 3 square feet of floor space per bird. Protect them from adverse weather conditions and predators. The structure must also protect feeders and be suitable for nests and a roost. Tube feeders and an automatic waterer are recommended for floor layers. 1, record 2, English, - floor%20layer

2, record 2, French, - pondeuse%20au%20sol
