Radiofrequency gangliolysis(RFG) involves wounding the gasserian ganglion, the large, flat root of the trigeminal nerve. Guided by x-ray technology, the surgeon inserts a needle through the cheek and into the rootlets behind the gasserian ganglion to inject a radiofrequency current. This current heats and destroys selected portions of the gasserian ganglion thought to be responsible for the pain. 3, record 1, English, - percutaneous%20radiofrequency%20gangliolysis

A test designed to reproduce pain originating in the cervical spine. With the patient sitting, the examiner places one hand across the other on the top of the patient's head with gradually increased downward pressure. A test which determines if there exists irritation or compression of nerve root, dural root sleeve fibrosis or adhesions, foraminal encroachment, or adjacent joint capsule thickening and adhesions. The examiner stands beside the patient who tilts the head to one side. With one of the examiner's hands on the patient's shoulder and the other hand on the patient's head, the examiner exerts downward pressure on the patient's shoulder and lateral flexion pressure on the patient's head in the opposite direction. This test places a tug on the nerve roots; with root sleeve fibrosis, foraminal osteophytes, or adhesions, radicular pain or paresthesias often result. 2, record 5, English, - shoulder%20depression%20test

A test done during [a] physical examination to determine whether a patient with low back pain has an underlying herniated disk, often located at L5 (fifth lumbar spinal nerve). 11, record 9, English, - straight%2Dleg%20raise%20test
Record number: 9, Textual support number: 1 CONT
When performing the straight leg raise test the patient is positioned supine in the absence of pillows. The clinician lifts the patient's symptomatic leg by the posterior ankle while keeping the knee in a fully extended position. The clinician continues to lift the patient's leg by flexing at the hip until pain is illicited or end range is reached. Neurologic pain which is reproduced in the leg and low back between 30-70 degrees of hip flexion is a positive result of lumbar disc herniation at the L4-S1 nerve roots. In order to make this test more specific, the ankle can be dorsiflexed and the cervical spine flexed. This increases the stretching of the nerve root and dura. 2, record 9, English, - straight%2Dleg%20raise%20test

Tenderness and radiation of pain or tingling sensation caused by pressing with the thumb when examining the contour of the lumbar spine and checking for local tenderness. If pain radiates down the leg on eliciting this tenderness, it is a reliable sign of root compression at that level.
