Rhizodegradation ... is a much slower process than phytodegradation. Microorganisms (yeast, fungi, or bacteria) consume and digest organic substances for nutrition and energy. Certain microorganisms can digest organic substances such as fuels or solvents that are hazardous to humans and break them down into harmless products through biodegradation. Natural substances released by the plant roots -sugars, alcohols, and acids- contain organic carbon that provides food for soil microorganisms, and the additional nutrients enhance their activity. 3, record 3, English, - rhizodegradation

The soil-plant system is one of the most important components in agricultural and natural ecosystems. Nutrient dynamics in soil-plant systems not only reflect the pattern of nutrient flow but also influence food production and quality, and the contaminant pathways in agricultural and natural ecosystems. In soil-plant systems, interaction between nutrients occur when the supply of one nutrient affects the movement, absorption, or utilization of an nutrient within the soil, soil-root interface (rhizosphere), or plant. [Delayed re-heat cracking] only occurs with certain materials such as 321 type stainless steel, as it is caused by hardening of the steel due to fine precipitations of titanium carbide inside the crystalline structure. The hardening causes the plastic deformation capacity to be transferred to the periphery of the grains. For this to happen, the following conditions have to be met: a high operating temperature ([higher than] 475°C for 321 steel), a geometrical discontinuity at the weld root, strain hardening at the weld root showing significant shrinkage, heavy local load, which may be due to welding stresses, a defect in the weld root (e.g. a small shrinkage crack). 1, record 17, English, - delayed%20re%2Dheat%20cracking

The Standing Committee will establish annual pumping programs based on an evaluation of current conditions, including soil moisture level, water table depth, degree of water table recovery, soil type, vegetation conditions, the results of studies pertaining to vegetation recovery, and compliance with the goals of the Agreement. 5, record 19, English, - recovery

The plant communities that we monitor require periodic connection to the groundwater for long-term survival and recovery from drought. Unfortunately, the on/off status often is not an accurate indicator of whether groundwater is reaching the plant root zone, but the rise of water above the water table due to capillarity is detected easily by the monitoring. Using the soil water and groundwater data, we determine which monitoring sites are connected with the water table and which still need water table recovery. 6, record 19, English, - recovery

Subirrigation(seepage) systems are based on establishment and maintenance of the high water table just beneath the crop root zone. Due to the capillary action the water migrates upward providing necessary moisture for the crop. For this system to function, the top layer of soil must have high hydraulic conductivity typical for sand or muck. The existence of natural high water table or restrictive layer(clay, rock, etc.) below the root zone is necessary to allow for the buildup and regulation of the irrigation water table throughout the season. Raising the water table in addition to providing for the evapotranspirational demand of the crop, requires large quantities of water which must also be available for seepage irrigation. 6, record 30, English, - subsurface%20irrigation

Drip Irrigation.... Water is delivered in small quantities under low pressure directly to... the root zone of the plants. You’ll need 1/2 inch polyethylene header pipe, and a roll of thin tape-like porous tubing. The header pipe connects to a garden hose and routes water through the garden. The pipe is placed either down the center or along one end of the garden. Small puncture holes are then made with a screwdriver into the header pipe at intervals corresponding to garden row. Eight-to ten-inch pieces of rubber connecting hose are then inserted into these holes. The other end of the connecting hose attaches to a length of porous tape. This tape is rolled out along each vegetable bed and cut to the same length as the row. Then end of the tape is then crimped to prevent water loss when the system is in use. Porous irrigation tape is best placed about three to four inches away from the base of the plants. 1, record 32, English, - porous%20irrigation%20tape

The term crown as generally used in horticulture designates that part of a plant at the surface of the ground from which new shoots are produced. In trees or shrubs with a single trunk, the crown is principally a point of location near the ground surface marking the general transition zone between stem and root. In herbaceous perennials, the crown is the part of the plant from which new shoots arise annually. The crown of herbaceous perennials consists of many branches, each being the base of the current season's stem, which originated from the base of the preceding year's branch. 3, record 42, English, - crown%20leaf
