Surge-blocks, swabs, or plungers are disc shaped devices made to fit tightly within the well. Their edges are usually fitted with rubber or leather rings to make a tight seal against the well casing. Pipe sections are then attached to the surge-block to lower it into the well, above the well screen, and about 15 feet below the water level. The assembly is then repeatedly lifted up and down. The up and down action of the surge-block creates suction and compression strokes that force water in and out of the well through the screened interval, gravel pack, and aquifer. It works like a plunger in the way that it removes small obstructions and sediments from the well. Application of the brake pedal, which is linked to the master cylinder piston rod, causes the piston rod to push the piston forward inside the master cylinder casting. A slight forward movement blocks the compensating port, and the buildup of pressure begins. This pressure is transmitted to the brake assembly. When the brake pedal is released and returns to the "off" position, the piston return spring pushes the front piston seal and the piston back to full "off" position against the piston return stop. This again clears the compensating port. Fluid that was moved into the brake assembly and brake connecting line is then pushed back to the master cylinder by the brake piston which is returned to the "off" position by the pressure of the brake piston return springs. Any pressure or excess volume of fluid is relieved through the compensating port and passes back to the fluid reservoir. Poor wiper operation. The windshield wipers... may not park properly or shut off when the driver turns them off.... If this is the case, replace the windshield wiper motor. To do this, first remove the wiper arms by removing the two flange nuts. Next, pry the cowl clips out(18 of them), then remove the cowl cover and hood seal. Now unplug the electrical connector from the windshield wiper linkage assembly and remove the assembly's three bolts.
