Nanodrones currently use computer vision and methods to stitch together captured images for localization purposes. These drones often get confused in chaotic areas, lose each other behind walls, and can’t uniquely identify each other. This all limits their ability to, say, spread out over an area and collaborate to search for a missing person. Parking is a universal pain point for drivers. People are frustrated and stressed during the search for a vacant parking area, with city drivers spending 30% of their time looking for spaces.... Taking public transportation, such as buses and the metro, can help reduce parking-related congestion and air pollution. Nonetheless, private vehicles are still used for convenience. To reduce carbon emissions, we could replace all fuel-consuming vehicles with electric ones. Congestion would still be caused by the cruising of a vehicle to find a vacant parking space, even if we used electric vehicles. 3, record 8, English, - parking%20congestion

2, record 26, French, - sondage
Record number: 26, Textual support number: 2 CONT
4, record 26, French, - sondage

The preparation of grids is recommended for outdoor disasters(aircraft crashes, railroad accidents and similar), in order to ensure more complete and effective processing of the resulting sectors. The arrangement of sectors in a chessboard pattern will facilitate the subsequent search for evidence and recovery of bodies substantially.... The grid consists of a base line which proceeds from or runs between identifiable fixed points on the ground as well as parallel lines drawn at intervals for instance of 10 m(but depending of the situation), thus forming square sections in which methodical searches can be conducted. To the extent possible, the grid should cover the entire disaster area. 2, record 51, English, - grid

The trained search dog works a snowfield rapidly, searching for "pools" of human scent rising up through the snow pack. When the dog finds a potential scent source he will bury his head into the snow trying to locate the source. If the human smell intensifies, he begins to dig trying to get closer to the source. If the scent becomes weaker, a trained dog will start to work outwards from the area to attempt to either pinpoint an area of stronger buried source or rule the scent out as surface odor left by human searchers.... A well-trained avalanche rescue dog... is equivalent to approximately 20-foot searchers and can search the same area in an eighth of the time. 3, record 70, English, - avalanche%20rescue%20dog

2, record 70, French, - chien%20d%27avalanche

What is "cone of scent"? Odour particles always travel in the shape of a cone. A cone of scent is always concentrated and narrow at the source, and becomes wider and more diluted the further it travels. When a detector dog detects a substance that it has been trained to interdict, it uses the cone of scent to pinpoint the source of the odour. It starts by moving from one side to the other and back again in order to define the search area. Then, by moving up and down the cone, the dog can determine in which direction the odour becomes stronger. The dog can then follow the ever-narrowing cone of scent to its source. 1, record 76, English, - cone%20of%20scent

1, record 76, French, - c%C3%B4ne%20de%20d%C3%A9tection%20olfactive

The relative ease of dissemination [of biological weapons] affects the level of effort and scale of preparation required... Unlike the chemical poisons which, for mass dissemination, require complete weapon systems of a type not likely to be available to terrorist organizations, use of biological pathogens is virtually identical with certain biological weapons applications which do not require massive weaponry... The search capability of the aerosol cloud(it seeks out its victims) ;its potential for large area coverage; and the fact that the respiratory form of most diseases, the form resulting from aerosol particle inhalation, is usually the most severe form, are the factors which make biological weapons aerosols truly mass destruction weapons. 1, record 82, English, - aerosol%20cloud

1, record 82, French, - nuage%20d%27a%C3%A9rosol

"Close Line Search". This is a last resort procedure, designed to assure success using sight alone.(...) This mode amounts to a line search with spacing much reduced, say to 15 feet or less. The objective is to inspect every square foot of ground in the elemental area assigned. Search boundary control must be precise. One method is by arranging for the end men of the line to "pay out" string behind them as they proceed-hence, the sometimes heard term "string search". 1, record 90, English, - string%20search
