Walnut wilt is a noninfectious disease which causes the sudden wilt and death of many plant species. The problem occurs in the beds of sensitive plants growing near walnut trees... The cause is an active compound known as juglone produced by these trees. Juglone has been isolated from the roots, leaves, bark, and husks. The compound can also be found in a narrow zone in the soil surrounding the living roots. Because of this limited distribution of the toxin, the position of juglone producing roots underground is reflected in the pattern of wilting plants above ground... Affected plants wilt suddenly and often show a browning of the vascular tissues just under the outer layers of the main stem... Some plants with mild tolerance may show stunting, lack of flower development, and/or lack of vigor. 2, record 1, English, - walnut%20wilt

2, record 1, French, - fl%C3%A9trissure%20du%20noyer

Cumulus clouds with little or no vertical development characterized by a generally flat appearance. Their growth is usually limited by a temperature inversion, which is marked by the unusually uniform height of the clouds. 4, record 2, English, - cumulus%20humilis
Record number: 2, Textual support number: 1 CONT
Fair Weather Cumulus. These clouds have the appearance of floating cotton with a flat base and distinct outlines, while having a lifetime anywhere from 5-40 minutes. The color shading ranges from white to light gray, with bases that can be as low as 1, 000 m above the ground, and have a diameter of about a kilometer or so. The cloud tops, likewise, are usually not very high and designate the limit of the rising air. Called cumulus humilis, these clouds show only slight vertical growth. However, given suitable conditions, what may initially begin as harmless Fair Weather Cumulus, can later develop into towering cumulus clouds that have an appearance resembling that of a cauliflower, with strong updrafts and possibly precipitation. 3, record 2, English, - cumulus%20humilis

... when cumulus clouds have only slight vertical ascent and are usually confined to the lowest 2 kilometers of the atmosphere they are referred to as cumulus humilis; when cumulus clouds reach moderate vertical extent (generally between 2 to 6 kilometers above the ground) an exhibit small protuberances they are termed cumulus mediocris; finally, when cumulus clouds extend high up into the atmosphere (generally 6 kilometers or more above the ground) and their bulging parts resemble cauliflower they are called cumulus congestus. 5, record 2, English, - cumulus%20humilis

Cumulus humilis. 4, record 2, French, - cumulus%20humilis

Two types of manmade structures are used for the disposal of conditioned waste: - monoliths, located below the original ground level, for waste whose initial conditioning has to be completed by immobilization in a concrete structure; - tumuli, above the original ground level, for waste whose initial conditioning does not necessitate any supplementary immobilization. 2, record 3, English, - monolith

Figures 10 and 11 show two different designs of an above-ground structure. Figure 10 is an above-ground concrete vault which is filled with wastes and concrete grout to occupy the empty space, and is finally made into a concrete monolith with a mound built over it.... the design shown in Fig. 11... is a structure partly below and partly above the original ground level. The waste is put into trenches dug under the original ground level and concrete is poured in when the trench is full. A concrete monolith is thus formed, and an earth-covered mound is then built above the buried monolith. 3, record 3, English, - monolith

3, record 3, French, - monolithe
