Qualitative and quantitative studies show that people who consult complementary practitioners usually have longstanding conditions for which conventional medicine has not provided a satisfactory solution, either because it is insufficiently effective or because it causes adverse effects. They have generally already consulted a conventional healthcare practitioner for the problem, and many continue to use the two systems concurrently. Some "pick and mix" between complementary and conventional care, claiming that there are certain problems for which their general practitioner has the best approach and others for which a complementary practitioner is more appropriate. Most find their complementary practitioners through personal recommendation. 2, record 1, English, - complementary%20practitioner

Record number: 2, Textual support number: 1 OBS
negative study : This term can generate confusion because it refers both to statistical significance and the direction of effect(positive or negative). Since studies analyse multiple outcomes simultaneously, the criteria for classifying a study as “negative” are not always clear and, in the case of studies of risk or adverse effects, “negative” studies are ones that do not show a harmful effect. 1, record 2, English, - negative%20study

1, record 2, French, - %C3%A9tude%20%C3%A0%20r%C3%A9sultat%20n%C3%A9gatif
