At a low RH [relative humidity], deformations to the canvas can form within a few days or weeks and appear as rippling at the corners of the painting(corner draws). The drying-shrinkage of concrete made with recycled concrete is greater by 10 to 30% compared to the control concrete. Shrinkage values depend on the total surface area; in the recycled aggregate the surface area is expected to be high because of the presence of cement paste. The freeze-thaw durability of concrete containing recycled concrete aggregate is similar to that of the control containing normal aggregates. 5, record 16, English, - reference%2Dconcrete

1, record 41, French, - retrait%20tangentiel

[Delayed re-heat cracking] only occurs with certain materials such as 321 type stainless steel, as it is caused by hardening of the steel due to fine precipitations of titanium carbide inside the crystalline structure. The hardening causes the plastic deformation capacity to be transferred to the periphery of the grains. For this to happen, the following conditions have to be met : a high operating temperature([higher than] 475°C for 321 steel), a geometrical discontinuity at the weld root, strain hardening at the weld root showing significant shrinkage, heavy local load, which may be due to welding stresses, a defect in the weld root(e. g. a small shrinkage crack). 1, record 46, English, - delayed%20re%2Dheat%20cracking

Although heat is also a factor in the deterioration of asphalt on a roof, the real source of decay is the energy carried by the ultra-violet(UV) light of the sun, combined with the ready supply of oxygen in ozone. The "links" in asphalt molecular chains are hydrogen. The molecular bond is overcome by the strong attraction of the oxygen, which pulls the hydrogen away from the asphalt molecules. This process is called photo-oxidation, and these breaks in the "aliphatic" chain results in the shrinkage cracking common to asphalt. This phenomenon is commonly called "alligatoring" in roofing parlance, a term which describes the similarity of aged asphalt surfaces to an alligator's back. 3, record 51, English, - alligatoring

Many factors are responsible for the loss of weight or "shrink" of calves, feeder and slaughter cattle during marketing. As shrinkage increases, the potential for improving net returns from calves, feeders and fed cattle decreases. Shrinkage directly affects the income of all cattle producers. Shrinkage can be reduced through better handling techniques, attention to environment and diet, market planning and an appreciation of animal psychology. This module discusses how shrinkage effects net return and how producers can reduce losses from shrinkage. 1, record 55, English, - slaughter%20cattle
