A diagnostic modeling scheme based on a procedural network contains all the necessary subskills for the global skill, as well as all the possible buggy variants(or bugs) of each subskill. It can replace an individual subskill in the procedural network by one of its bugs, and thus attempt to reproduce a student's incorrect behavior. If such a faulted network does obtain the same answers as the student on a sufficient set of problems, the bugs that have replaced their correct siblings in the network are then posited as being those possessed by the student. Such an instantiation of the subprocedure calls, which actually models the student in a deterministic fashion, is considered a deep-structure model : it explains the student's incorrect behavior in terms of a set of exact internalized errors, rather than of, say, a probabilistic estimate of correct and incorrect answers such as is typical of stochastic models. 1, record 1, English, - deep%2Dstructure%20model

Babies younger than [six] months old are more likely to develop certain infectious diseases than older children are. Cocooning is a way to protect babies from catching diseases from the people around them—people like their parents, siblings, grandparents, friends, child-care providers, babysitters, and healthcare providers. Once these people are vaccinated, they are less likely to spread these contagious diseases to the baby. They surround the baby with a cocoon of protection against disease until he or she is old enough to get all the doses of vaccine needed to be fully protected. 3, record 2, English, - cocooning

1, record 15, French, - empreinte

Canadian Origin Stories-The Birth of Good and Evil. The story of Sky Woman's descent to earth continues with the birth of Sky Woman's daughter. Sky Woman's daughter gives birth to twin sons. Even prior to their birth, these two sons are in conflict. The good twin is born in the natural way, while his evil brother, jealous of his sibling's being born first, pushes himself out his mother's side. The birth of the twins marks the beginning of the battle of good and evil on earth. The brothers grow quickly and begin to fill the world with their creations. One creates all that is good and useful to humans, while the other is destructive, and creates all that is bad. Eventually the good twin defeats his evil brother, and banishes him to a pit under the earth. From this pit the evil twin sends emissaries that continue to bring evil into the world. In the structure of SHCOLAR's semantic network(Carbonell 1970) there are already facilities to support the lack-of-knowledge strategy. The concept hierarchy can be used to collect objects similar to the original one : they must be its siblings with respect to a common superordinate. The depth of knowledge can be measured by the numerical relevance tags associated with information. For example, if oil is not on the list of Uruguay's products, this does not necessarily imply that Uruguay does not produce oil at all since the database may be incomplete. Furthermore, there is no list of goods that a country does not produce. But, if oil is mentioned for another country say Venezuela-with a relevance-tag value at which something else is known for Uruguay, this is an induction that oil is not produced in Uruguay. 2, record 32, English, - lack%2Dof%2Dknowledge%20strategy

Close Inbreeding. The closest possible inbreeding is to mate a parent and its offspring together(mother and son, or father and daughter). This way the mated animals share half of their genetic make-up as offspring inherit half of their genes from each parent. Almost as close a form of inbreeding is to breed siblings together, as they will have a similar, but not identical, genetic make-up. Close inbreeding is used to fix desired qualities in the strain; for example, new colors or coat varieties, desired type or size. Although close inbreeding is an easy way to get uniform siblings with the desired qualities, it is also a way to fix unwanted qualities-for example lowered fertility and hereditary diseases. 2, record 33, English, - close%20inbreeding

A Novel Mutation in the Sex Determining Region on Y(SRY) Gene as an Etiology of Familial Swyer Syndrome. Swyer Syndrome(SWY) is a failure of testicular differentiation that results in 46, XY sex reversed females. Unlike sporadic SWY, familial cases of SWY appear to be transmitted through 46, XX carrier females and maybe due to X-linked or autosomal genes downstream from SRY in the sexual differentiation cascade. Carriers of a mutation in SRY would be expected to be affected with SWY and be sterile. This report describes two siblings with SWY who have been previously found to have a normal SRY gene with polymerase chain reaction(PCR) 4, record 35, English, - sex%20determining%20region%20on%20Y

The recurrence risk(of the defect occurring in a sibling of an affected child of unaffected parents) is 25 percent, with males and females equally likely to have and to transmit the trait.
