A paraglider is made up of the wing, rigging(lines), small carabiner, and risers.... Lines. Commonly known as lines(a set of rigging) measuring variously between 0. 4-1. 7 mm, even 2. 2 mm, their high level of strength or weight resistance depends on their thickness and the properties of material used in its construction. They are usually concerned with a protective sheath to guard against ground friction and are made from dyneema, kevlar, spectra, superaramid and so on. The lines attach the wing to risers which in turn are attached to the pilots harness, and extend from the wings downward side in the order specified by the particular manufacturer, gradually tapering off in thickness and number via a series of quick links. Finally they end up in tiny linkages(known as small carabiner) from the risers. 6, record 1, English, - suspension%20line

The second book of the set of works by the CIDECT [Committee International for the Development and the Study of Tubular construction] under the general title "Construction with Hollow Steel Sections" is dedicated to phenomena of instability : buckling, distortion, spreading. Because of the shape of its section and the particularly favourable distribution of matter in the straight section, a hollow profile, of circular or rectangular shape, behaves distinctly better than an open profile section under the demands of compression. In remaining within the limits of the relation of the diameter or the width of side divided by the thickness of partition, given in this dimensioning guide, the local hollow profile distortion can be disregarded. On the other hand, the resistance to spreading is, in practice, not verified because hollow profiles possess a distinctly larger polar rigidity than open section profiles. 1, record 6, English, - open%20section%20profile

2, record 6, French, - profil%20ouvert

The alignment of the dike shall be selected with due regard to setback requirements, available land base for construction and site specific local constraints such as sensitive habitats. Space permitting, a setback dike has numerous benefits when compared to a water side dike, as outlined below : maintains natural wetland habitat and is environmentally sustainable; provides a wider floodway with increased flow capacity; reduces peak flood levels; reduces flow velocity and bank erosion; and reduces long-term maintenance costs due to less frequent flows against the dike slope. 2, record 13, English, - setback%20dyke

The most popular type of milking parlour, worldwide, is the herring-bone parlour. This is on account of its versatility and economical cost of construction... As with the tandem side-gate parlour it also requires the use of an operator pit, but the cows enter in batches and stand at an angle of 30° or 35° to the pit. No side passages are necessary. Cows are normally milked from the side, but in some cases, from between the back legs. Since cows are handled in batches, a slow milker can hold up her batch. It is therefore not advisable for batches to exceed 12 cows. However, in a double-sided milking parlour 12 cows per side, with 12 milking units per side(24/24 parlour), about 308 cows can be milked in two hours. 5, record 18, English, - herringbone%20milking%20parlor

They were built with 5. 1 by 15. 2 centimetre wooden planks and 5. 1 by 10. 2 centimetre wooden planks. The 2 x 6's were placed flat side up, one on top of each other and securely nailed with spikes to give strength. Ils étaient construits en madriers de 5,1 x 15,2 centimètres et en planches de 5,1 x 10,2 centimètres. Les madriers étaient superposés sur le plat et solidement cloués. Soil retention test. One variation of this test is directed primarily toward the use of geotextiles as underwater silt curtains. The test device consists of two rectangular tanks which are placed end to end with slide gates facing one another. Between these two slide gates is the fabric specimen under test. The upstream tank(with the slide gate closed) is now filled with water that has a known amount of silt uniformly mixed in it. The gate valve at the exit end of the downstream tank is opened. The test begins by lifting up the slide gates on each side of the fabric and allowing the(turbid) water to pass through the fabric, which is acting as a submerged soil filter.... This test... is aimed at the reduction in turbidity of rivers and streams during adjacent construction activities. The other variation of a soil retention test is directed toward the use of geotextiles as aboveground silt fences. 1, record 40, English, - soil%20retention%20test
