Around-the-pump proportioner : This type of proportioner also operates on the venturi principle [as does the "in-line inductor"], except that it must be situated at the pump and connected to both suction and pressure sides. Its advantage is that pressure recovery of the venturi action is attained, and pump delivery pressures to the foam-making device or devices downstream require no compensation for pressure loss except for that in the layout hose length.... A small portion of the pump discharge flows through a bypass line to the suction side of the pump. A venturi eductor in this line produces a negative pressure on the foam concentrate pickup line from the foam concentrate container. Foam concentrate is led to the eductor where it mixes with water and is delivered to the suction side of the pump.

The motion detection radar(MDR) adds a new dimension to surveillance. The MDR can be effective even through wooden doors and concrete walls. It requires very little setup and does not have any external wires connected to it. Unlike TV cameras and IR sensors that must be concealed, the MDR can be placed in a "safe location" on the other side of a wall or hidden in a container with non-metallic walls. The MDR provides an effective and timely alert even if the person doing the surveillance is preoccupied, distracted or inadvertently nods off due to fatigue.

The fire extinguishing equipment for an airliner such as the Douglas DC-10 incorporates three systems with six pressurized agent containers, two for each engine. The containers for the wing-mounted engines are located in pairs in the leading edge of the wing between the nacelle and the fuselage on each side of the aircraft.... The discharge cartridge is an electrically fired explosive unit that provides force to rupture the disk seal in the outlet port of the container and release the extinguishing agent to the deployment lines. One discharge cartridge is installed on each wing-mounted container and two are installed on the aft-engine container. The discharge cartridge contains two squibs(explosive charges) that are fired by an electric circuit that heats the powder to the ignition point. When the fire extinguisher control handle is pulled down, the electric circuit is closed and the squibs are fired. The force of the explosion ruptures the disk seal, thus releasing the extinguishing agent. A screen in the discharge head prevents particles of the disk from entering the deployment line.

From the printer the cans are transferred to a "pin chain" to carry the can through the dry/cure and cool oven system. Register forms are merely continuous strip forms which are contained inside a box made especially for use with the forms. DIDO Experiment Container is essentially a box with a side length of 150 mm. Design philosophy of DIDO experiment foreseen an "all inside" approach, so(at this moment) the experiment container is a mere box with no windows or openings, or relevant external features. DIDO EC is intended as a structural part for the inside experiment; only mechanical, electrical and data interfaces are required to connect DIDO EC with GLAD facility. The box is assembled as one piece but the topside is removable to have access to DIDO experiment. In this way the topside component works as a cover plate. The EC is made by(TBD) material and to meet safety requirements EC' s corners are slightly rounded, materials must not be flammable and machined with non-toxic surface treatment. Cover plate is connected with the box through screws. The bottom side, instead, compose the "first plate" of DIDO experiment, housing tanks and pumping system. Another plate placed about half height provides a "second plate" for DIDO cell and relative optics, laser unit and CCD camera.

Objectives of the experiment DIDO ... is the measurement of diffusion coefficients in a three-component solution. It’s impossible to carry out these measurements on Earth because in a diffusion boundary, when the transport is promoted by at least two independent driving forces, convention instabilities may arise, called "fingers" and "overstability."

Advanced Gradient Heating Facility(AGHF)... The AGHF supports the production of advanced semiconductor materials and alloys using the directional solidification process, which depends on establishing a hot side and a cold side in the sample(a temperature gradient). It provides an extremely stable temperature environment of up to 1, 400°C, high-temperature gradients of up to 100°C/cm in the solidification zone, slow movement of the gradient across a sample to provide slow growth rates, efficient cooling through the use of a liquid metal cooling ring attached to the sample container, and Peltier pulse marking capability. The AGHF consists of three modules mounted in one side of a Spacelab double rack : the Core Facility Module contains the processing chamber with the furnace inside; the Electronics Module contains the controls and equipment necessary to operate the furnace; and the Gas Storage Module contains argon for chamber repressurization and sample cooling.

Mechanical corn shellers that were turned by hand or powered by horses were available in the mid 1800's. There were two main types of shellers : the picker-wheel sheller and the cylinder or cage-type sheller. In the picker-wheel sheller the cob was shelled as it was rubbed between a rough surfaced rotating iron disk and a guide wheel which wedged the cob close to the disk until it was shelled. The shelled corn was thrown out the side of the sheller and the shelled corn dropped through the bottom of the sheller into a container.
