CONT

Thermo-osmotic energy conversion(TOEC) is an emerging process that efficiently extracts energy from low-grade heat sources. By utilizing a temperature gradient, TOEC induces a partial vapor pressure difference across a hydrophobic membrane. This pressure gradient drives the vapor from the hot feed side through the membrane's pores to the cold permeate side. The movement of water from the hot feed side to the permeate side of the membrane results in excess fluid in the cold reservoir, generating a pressurized flow that can be harnessed to drive a turbine and generate electricity.

A ground stroke played by left-handers to the left of the body, and by right-handers to the right.

CONT

For the right-handed player, all strokes on the right side of the body are forehand and all strokes on the left side of the body are backhand.

CONT

When Greg Rusedski hits a tennis ball, it seems to involve a lot of moving parts. A lean six-foot-four and 190 pounds, he’s all arms and legs as he whomps his big serve and whacks his forehands and backhands.

CONT

After Becker plopped a forehand into the net, he offered a perfunctory handshake at the net without even glancing at Voinea.

OBS

Both the French and Spanish make much use of the anglicism "drive", albeit not in a correct fashion : In English "drive" is supposed to imply a ball hit with a lot of pace to win a point outright, regardless of the type of spin used to accomplish this task, and regardless of which side it is hit(forehand or backhand).(The terms "shot" and "stroke", being more neutral, need not imply any added spin whatsoever.)

An informal or club tournament in which weaker players are paired or grouped with a stronger player so that there is no side of strong players to dominate. In golf, each of the players in a group will play from the same spot, normally the spot where the ball of the player with the best stroke(as the longest drive or the nearest approach shot) landed. Each player plays his own ball, and the best score for a hole counts as the side's score.

CONT

The key element of the MOMO experiment assembly is a Bridgman furnace for low temperatures(< 100°C). The furnace generates a temperature gradient over a cylindrical glass ampoule containing the sample. The sample material for the first two flights was a succinonitrile(SCN) based compound, which has solidifying structures similar to those of a metal alloy. The furnace is accommodated on a linear drive, which can be moved over the sample ampoule for directional solidification. An endoscope from the liquid side of the sample provides optical observation of the solid-liquid interface.

The compartment cooling air fan is located on the APU left side just aft of the generator. The fan is driven by the accessory drive and draws air through a flapper valve mounted on the exterior surface of the APU enclosure left side. Cooling air supplied by the fan from the aft accessory compartment is blown into the system through a bifurcated duct attached to the aft side of the fan housing. This duct diverts a portion of air through the oil cooler and allows the remainder to be used for generator and APU compartment cooling. Air for cooling the generator flows through a crossover duct attached to the blast cap on the end of the generator. Air for cooling the compartment is allowed to escape into the area surrounding the APU by means of a slot in the lower surface of the generator crossover duct.
