The objective of a green corridor is always to link important natural areas in a city using a strip or corridor characterised by rich vegetation. ... The benefits of green corridors are various, of course: increased biodiversity, promotion of non-polluting mobility, reduced air/noise pollution, helping prevent heat islands, and better water retention. They also generate social, cultural and economic benefits. 2, record 1, English, - green%20corridor

Green corridors slicing through an urban area are conspicuous. Such strips(1) subdivide the area,(2) block out the other side,(3) are filters for movement across,(4) are thin and dominated by edge species,(5) are likely to be seen or encountered,(6) may be appealing or dangerous, and(7) tend to channel movement along their length. Indeed, these characteristics lead to the five major ecological functions of corridors... : conduit; barrier/filter; source; sink; and habitat. 3, record 1, English, - green%20corridor

The Dix-Hallpike test is typically performed in a doctor's office. The doctor will ask you to sit upright on an exam table with your legs stretched out in front of you and your head turned to one side. They will then ask you to lower your head and torso back so that you end up lying with your head stretched off the edge of the exam table, turned with one ear down at a 45-degree angle. If there are misplaced calcium deposits(also called canaliths) in the posterior canal of your inner ear, this will trigger vertigo symptoms. 4, record 3, English, - Dix%2DHallpike%20manoeuver

Complete Fabric Retaining Walls. A fabric retaining wall consists of horizontal layers of fabric-containing earth fill with one side of the fabric folded back around the exposed edge and lapped over the next layer to form the wall face.... Fabric Earth dams. While this application is similar in concept and construction method to fabric retaining walls, the hydrostatic pressure of the retained water and the potential scour problem make the application somewhat unique. While carbon nanotubes(CNT) and carbon nanofibers(CNF) are both hollow, nanometer in scale, and produced in a similar manner, there are distinct differences which significantly impact their performance and ability to be processed. The primary differences between the materials are morphology, size, ease of processing, and price. Carbon nanofibers, also known as Stacked-Cup Carbon Nanotubes(SCCNT), have a unique morphology in that graphene planes are canted from the fiber axis, resulting in exposed edge planes on the interior and exterior surfaces of the fiber. CNTs, on the other hand, typically resemble an assembly of concentric cylinders of graphene. To illustrate the difference in morphology, Figure 1... shows a side by side comparison of A) multi-walled carbon nanotubes [MWCNT] and B) stacked-cup carbon nanotubes.... Figure 1. A) Multi-wall CNTs are composed of concentric cylinders of graphene where the basal planes form an inert surface. B) The stacked-cup structure of CNF has exposed graphitic edge planes along its length, providing opportunities for chemical modification of the surface for covalent bonding directly with the matrix. 7, record 28, English, - cup%2Dstacked%20carbon%20nanofiber

The fire extinguishing equipment for an airliner such as the Douglas DC-10 incorporates three systems with six pressurized agent containers, two for each engine. The containers for the wing-mounted engines are located in pairs in the leading edge of the wing between the nacelle and the fuselage on each side of the aircraft.... The discharge cartridge is an electrically fired explosive unit that provides force to rupture the disk seal in the outlet port of the container and release the extinguishing agent to the deployment lines. One discharge cartridge is installed on each wing-mounted container and two are installed on the aft-engine container. The discharge cartridge contains two squibs(explosive charges) that are fired by an electric circuit that heats the powder to the ignition point. When the fire extinguisher control handle is pulled down, the electric circuit is closed and the squibs are fired. The force of the explosion ruptures the disk seal, thus releasing the extinguishing agent. A screen in the discharge head prevents particles of the disk from entering the deployment line. 2, record 42, English, - fire%20control%20handle

Rainbow formed in the same way as the solar rainbow, but with light from the Moon rather than the Sun. 5, record 50, English, - moonbow
Record number: 50, Textual support number: 1 CONT
A night time rainbow is sometimes called a moon bow because it is a reflection of the light of the moon.... Any rainbow comes from light hitting drops of rain and going into the drop and being reflected off of the inside edge. As the light leaves the drop on it's return journey the other side of the drop acts like a prism and separates it into the colors of the rainbow.... with moon light it makes something shaped like a rainbow with just a hint color. Moon bows occur in the side of the sky opposite the moon. 2, record 50, English, - moonbow
Record number: 50, Textual support number: 1 OBS
Even though the optics of both is the same, the luminance of the lunar rainbow is much lower. As a result of the eye’s reduced sensitivity to color at low light levels, the bow may exhibit little color. There are several reasons why the lunar rainbow is seen much less frequently than the solar bow. While the moon and sun spend equal time above the horizon, when they are both present, only a solar bow can be seen. This, by itself, means that the lunar rainbow could form only half as often. Further, the moon goes through phases, and so even at night may not contribute enough light to produce a discernible bow. Finally, the convective showers in which the rainbow is frequently seen are much less common at night. 6, record 50, English, - moonbow

From the viewpoint of thermal performance, WET aims to add more resistance to heat flow from the warm side to the cold side of the glazing, thereby enhancing both the condensation resistance and the thermal resistance of the unit. 1, record 60, English, - sealed%20insulating%20glass

2, record 60, French, - vitrage%20isolant%20scell%C3%A9

The purpose of the edging is to protect the covering from a sharp bend over the edge wire and cushion it. 1, record 72, English, - roll%20edge

Looking like an oversized white gauze bandage, the surgical zipper is a polyester patch with a polyethylene zipper running down the middle. The underside is coated with an adhesive like a Band-Aid. To close an incision, the surgeon peels off the paper strip exposing the adhesive, and places one edge on each side of the wound. While gently putting up on the tab, the surgeon pulls the zipper shut; as the zipper comes together so too do the edges of the skin. As stated before, the atmospheric conditions which are most favorable for the Green Flash are a calm and stratified atmosphere. When the Sun is a few degrees above the horizon, it appears distorted and flattened in the vertical direction(although the azimuthal size hardly changes). The closer it gets to the horizon, the more flattened it gets. Soon, the edge of the sun will become "notched" on either side. These notches appear to "ride" up the sides of the Sun from bottom to top; however, in reality, the notches are caused by the atmospheric layering and aren’t moving-it's the sun which is setting through them. 1, record 81, English, - atmospheric%20layering
