In a low-yield(i. e., bleachable grade) chemical pulping operation, knots are generally defined as the fraction of pulp that is retained on a 3/8" perforated plate... The pressure screen knotter... consists of a totally enclosed cylindrical, perforated screen through which accepted stock flows. A rotating foil produces a series of pressure and vacuum pulses to keep the perforations clean. Knots are retained on the entrance side of the screen and are continuously discharged, along with some good fiber. The main drawback of the pressure knotter is the requirement for secondary screening of the reject stream to return good fiber back to the system. 1, record 10, English, - pressure%20screen%20knotter

2, record 34, French, - riz%20nettoy%C3%A9

A convertible buccal tube is an appliance used by orthodontists during an early phase of treatment to correct malpositioned teeth. The tube is essentially an orthodontic bracket in which the buccal or cheek-facing side of the usual arch-wire slot is closed by a plate to form a tubular opening of typically rectangular cross section. The plate is brazed or spot-welded in place, and can be removed to convert the buccal tube to a conventional bracket during later stages of treatment. 3, record 37, English, - convertible%20buccal%20tube

Register forms are merely continuous strip forms which are contained inside a box made especially for use with the forms. The forms are accordion folded into "packs" and these packs are put in the register box with the first form to be written upon threaded up and over a metal plate which serves as a writing base or platform.(...) After the form is written upon, it is ejected from a slot in the top end of the box and the next form is automatically pulled into position for the next writing. The movement of the form up and out of the box may be done manually with a crank on the side of the register or with a finger lever on the top of the box or it may be done electrically. One of the principal features of the register is that after the form has been written upon, one copy is automatically guided into a container built into the bottom of the register. 1, record 44, English, - register

Displays and Control Module(DCM)... Along the top are switches for power, communications mode selection, caution and warning. There is also a switch that controls the water that is fed to the Liquid Cooling-and-Ventilation Garment. A digital display is used to monitor the various suit circuits. At the top left of this module is an emergency relief valve. If the primary life support system were to ever malfunction, the astronaut would still have access to the secondary oxygen pack. To activate this secondary oxygen pack, all the astronaut would have to do is open a purge valve by squeezing a set of pinchers. This valve releases air pressure on the chest plate-this is the same valve that is used at the end of EVA [Extravehicular Activity] to depressurize the suit. Also on the left, a step down from the purge valve, is the mechanical-suit pressure gauge. Along the right-hand side of the module, are two switches : the ventilation-fan switch and the push-to-talk switch. The ventilation-fan switch can activate and deactivate a fan which circulates air through the helmet and other parts of the suit. The push-to-talk switch is similar to one you would find on a CB [Citizen Band] radio. If the astronaut wants to talk, he has to push the button to be heard, and if he wants to receive voice messages, he has to release the button. On the front of the panel are other controls for volume, temperature, and suit pressure. 2, record 50, English, - display%20and%20control%20module

DIDO Experiment Container is essentially a box with a side length of 150 mm. Design philosophy of DIDO experiment foreseen an "all inside" approach, so(at this moment) the experiment container is a mere box with no windows or openings, or relevant external features. DIDO EC is intended as a structural part for the inside experiment; only mechanical, electrical and data interfaces are required to connect DIDO EC with GLAD facility. The box is assembled as one piece but the topside is removable to have access to DIDO experiment. In this way the topside component works as a cover plate. The EC is made by(TBD) material and to meet safety requirements EC' s corners are slightly rounded, materials must not be flammable and machined with non-toxic surface treatment. Cover plate is connected with the box through screws. The bottom side, instead, compose the "first plate" of DIDO experiment, housing tanks and pumping system. Another plate placed about half height provides a "second plate" for DIDO cell and relative optics, laser unit and CCD camera. 1, record 51, English, - DIDO%20experiment%20container

Kibo's Debris Shield. The International Space Station(ISS) wall is designed to protect the ISS and its crew from space debris. A debris shield is adopted for this particular purpose. A famous astronomer, Fred Whipple, devised this shield, so it is called a Whipple Shield. The idea is to attach a layer of thin aluminum plate outside the wall. When a space debris impacts this outer plate, the kinetic energy of the space debris is converted to heat. This heat creates a hole in the outer plate. However, the debris will evaporate or disintegrate to small particles consisting of gas, liquid and solids and will no longer be able to significantly damage the wall.... a stuffed-shield is adopted on the wall of the front side of Kibo, covering an area of 150 degrees. A stuffed shield binds several kinds of textile layers similar to a bulletproof vest between itself and the wall. This is a reinforced Whipple shield. 2, record 54, English, - debris%20shield

Welded cans are manufactured by one of two methods, wheel or wire welding. Both are variations of a forge-welding process.... Wire welding can accommodate the use of tin plate while wheel welding is best suited for tin-free steel, TFS. When using TFS, both methods require grinders to clean the edges to be welded so that they are free of oxides and chrome surface materials. Prior to side seam welding, the body blanks are formed into cylinders and tack-welded to maintain shape and proper relationship of the edges to each other.... Welded seams are used extensively for three-piece beverage, aerosol and food cans. 1, record 78, English, - wire%20welding
