The paraglider wing(or "canopy") is a self-inflating structure consisting of a row of cells, most of them open at the front and all of them closed at the back, joined together side by side. Moving through the air keeps them inflated because air goes in the front but can’t get out the back.

Garden slugs grow up to 25 to 30 mm. The mantle is on the anterior part of the slug and the breathing pore is in the anterior half of the mantle. Garden slugs have a band along either side which is not distinct on the lower border. There is no dorsal row of tubercles, and the creeping sole is yellow to dark yellow or orange. The respiratory pore is in front of the midpoint of the mantle shield. There is no keel, and the sole of foot is not divided. The skin is rough and wrinkled, gray to dark brownish gray and often with small yellow-brown dots(color lighter toward the foot).

Save for one thing--it takes wood aplenty, and in some places wood is becoming increasingly scarce. But there are variants and modifications for such a scarcity.

What are the advantages of the hunter-trapper? The side-logs confine the heat without exposing it to all outdoors, radiating it upward onto the utensils, and at the same time offer support for the pots without the trouble or erecting a lug-pole or crane... When wood is scarce and side-logs are not to be found or it is not wise to burn them, stones may be substituted--a row of large stones along each side, or many small ones built up to a height of five or six inches.

The XB-25E was a standard production modified for anti-icing research. The carburetor air intake duct was faired internally into the top of the cowling and an anti-icing air intake was mounted at the bottom. Each row of cylinders exhausted through a separate exchanger, one ported outboard and one inboard of each nacelle. Ram air from the lower cowling duct was routed underneath the engine to a split duct, each side of which was directed to one of the heat exchangers. Air admitted to these heat exchangers was directed through a series of gates that allowed diversion of heated air either to the anti-icing system or out the exhaust. A complex system of ducting led the hot air to the outer wing leading edges and also into the fuselage and to the leading edges of the tail. It was intended that the temperature of the hot air would be sufficiently high that ice on the wing leading edges surfaces would be vaporized rather than melted, which would have prevented water from flowing aft and then freezing again on flaps and ailerons.

A typical multi-head breaker is a rubber-tired, self-propelled unit which carries 1, 000 to 1, 500 pound hammers mounted laterally in pairs. Half of the hammers are in a forward row and the remainder diagonally offset in a rear row so that there is continuous breakage from side to side. Each pair of hammers is attached to a hydraulic lift cylinder which operates as an independent unit. Each unit can develop between 1, 000 and 8, 000 foot pounds of energy depending upon drop height selected. The units can cycle at a rate of 30 to 35 impacts per minute. The typical machine is eight foot wide and carries twelve hammers eight inches in width. An extension wing, carrying two 1, 500 pound hammers, can be added to each side for a total breaking width of up to 13 feet. Pavement breaking can be as narrow as 2. 67 feet or increased in increments up to 13 feet. Typical production rates per machine are 6000-8000 square yards per day.

According to Bengt Beckman the worlds first cryptomachine was swedish... The machine, called in 18th century swedish :"Chiffre-Machinen", consisted of 57 wheels mounted on a common shaft. These wheels were housed in an oblong cylinder. On half of the circumference of each wheel, the normal ordered alphabet was engraved, and on the other half numbers between 0 and 99 were likewise engraved, but in mixed order, with each of the 57 wheels having their own mixed sequence. A variation of the VASIS called the T-VASIS is installed at a few airports. It eliminates the requirement to discriminate colour except in a dangerously low approach when the lights will appear red. The T-VASIS installation consists of 10 lights on each side of the runway; 3 lights in a row parallel to the runway, 4 lights in a bar at right angles to the runway and another 3 lights in a line beyond the bar. On the proper approach slope, only the bar of 4 lights is visible. On a too high approach, the 3 upwind lights also are visible producing an inverted T. On a too low approach, the 3 lights downwind of the bar combine with the bar lights to show an upright T.
