The single reed for the clarinet is made from a slip cut from the stem of "A. donax. "After being trimmed, the reed is flattened on the inner side, while the end of the rounded outer side is scraped down to a feather edge. The thick end of the reed is attached, flat side down, to the mouthpiece by a metal ligature or length of twine. In playing, the thin end of the reed vibrates, alternately closing and opening the space between the reed and the mouthpiece. The vibration carries through the wedged-shaped tone chamber in the mouthpiece and into the air column in the tube. 4, record 1, English, - single%20reed

The turn and slip indicator... The instrument is usually calibrated to indicate a rate one turn when the turn needle is centred on one of the indexes seen either side of the centre index. In a straight and level flight, the ball and needle are both centred. In a correctly banked turn, the needle indicates the rate of the turn. The forces acting on the ball cause it to remain centred. 1, record 2, English, - correctly%20banked%20turn

6, record 2, French, - virage%20coordonn%C3%A9

Record number: 3, Textual support number: 1 CONT
Indicateur de virage et d'inclinaison latérale. [...]

2, record 5, French, - remonte%2Dpente%20%C3%A0%20soucoupes

Turn and slip indicator. The instrument is composed of two components. The turn needle is an electrically driven gyroscope which indicates the rate of turn. The marks(often called the doghouse) on either side of center represents a bank angle of 15 degrees.... The glass level containing the black ball is called the inclinometer. It provides the pilot with a measure of the turn quality. During both straight and level flight and during turns the ball should stay centered. The turn and slip indicator acts as a partial backup to the attitude indicator in that it shows rate of turn. 8, record 10, English, - turn%2Dand%2Dslip%20indicator

Wood shingles, as a rule, are easier to repair than clapboard. You can usually fix those that have split or warped by simply nailing them down with aluminum or galvanized nails. If the shingle is on the exposed side of the house... cut a piece of roofing paper approximately the size of the shingle and slip it underneath the shingle before nailing it down. 3, record 11, English, - wood%20shingle

The "slab method" forms pottery from flat pieces of clay. The potter shapes the clay into flat slabs by pounding it with the fist or by flattening it with a rolling pin. Using one slab as the base, the potter places other slabs at right angles to it to form the side of a piece of pottery. The slabs are then attached together with slip. 3, record 12, English, - slab%20method
