Any of the jumps, pirouettes or fancy manoeuvres that are part of a water-skiing routine performed on "trick skis," short water skis without a fin and often having rounded bottom and ends to make stunts possible.

Tricks, or "freestyle figures, "are the artistic side of water-skiing. Points are awarded for the degree of difficulty of the manoeuvres, and how fast they are performed. You have two 20-second passes during which to perform as many tricks as you can. There are all kinds of tricks on the official schedule. You can ski backward, spin around, step over the tow rope, hold the handle with your foot, and even use a jumping ramp for somersaults.

Tricks: ... A trick course is approximately 175m long, and is marked at either end by 2 fixed buoys, positioned 15 meters apart. Each contestant is allowed two 20-second passes through the trick course and may perform as many tricks as he/she desires, given the time allotted. Displays and Control Module (DCM). This is an irregularly shaped box of switches, valves, and digital displays that gets mounted on the chest. It controls the primary life support system and the secondary oxygen pack.

Displays and Control Module(DCM)... Along the top are switches for power, communications mode selection, caution and warning. There is also a switch that controls the water that is fed to the Liquid Cooling-and-Ventilation Garment. A digital display is used to monitor the various suit circuits. At the top left of this module is an emergency relief valve. If the primary life support system were to ever malfunction, the astronaut would still have access to the secondary oxygen pack. To activate this secondary oxygen pack, all the astronaut would have to do is open a purge valve by squeezing a set of pinchers. This valve releases air pressure on the chest plate-this is the same valve that is used at the end of EVA [Extravehicular Activity] to depressurize the suit. Also on the left, a step down from the purge valve, is the mechanical-suit pressure gauge. Along the right-hand side of the module, are two switches : the ventilation-fan switch and the push-to-talk switch. The ventilation-fan switch can activate and deactivate a fan which circulates air through the helmet and other parts of the suit. The push-to-talk switch is similar to one you would find on a CB [Citizen Band] radio. If the astronaut wants to talk, he has to push the button to be heard, and if he wants to receive voice messages, he has to release the button. On the front of the panel are other controls for volume, temperature, and suit pressure.

Du côté droit du module se trouvent deux boutons : celui du ventilateur et celui du poussoir d'émission (bouton parole). Le bouton du ventilateur peut activer et désactiver le ventilateur qui fait circuler l'air dans le casque et les autres parties du scaphandre [ou de la combinaison]. Le poussoir d'émission ressemble à ceux qu'on trouve sur les radios BP [bande publique]. Si l'astronaute veut parler, il doit pousser le bouton pour être entendu, et s'il veut entendre les messages, il doit relâcher le bouton. Sur le panneau avant de la boîte de trouvent d'autres dispositifs de commande du volume, de la température et de la pression d'air du scaphandre [ou de la combinaison].

There are three ways to tell whether gaffs are sharpened properly. Step 1 : Three ways to maintain climbers : 1. 1. Gauging. This method checks the gaff's length, width, and thickness and the profile of its point.... 1. 2. Plane test. This method may be used with the gauge or independently if the gaffs are sharpened by machine. The test is made by using a soft board to tell whether proper sharpness has been reached. Place the climber with the gaff side down and parallel to the board without applying downward pressure above the gaff. Push the climber along the board. If the gaff is properly contoured and sharpened, it will dig into the wood and hold within approximately one inch. If the climber continues to glide along the board for more than one inch, it needs more honing. 1. 3. Pole cutout. After the climbers have been machine sharpened or gauged(and as often as required thereafter), the gaffs may be tested on a pole.

Just about any type of step arrangement can be designed with Allan Block. Stairs built parallel to the wall face "follow" the natural 1&1/2 inch setback of the wall. Stairs built perpendicular to the wall face will widen by 3 inches per step(to account for the setback on each side wall) as you go. Design these stairs with intermediate landings to keep stair widths consistent.

The term "shuffle step" is almost always used in the plural, since more than one is generally required to move from one point to another. A gait resulting from hip girdle muscle weakness. The lack of fixation of the hip by the weak gluteal muscles on taking a step makes the opposite side of the pelvis drop producing compensatory lateral movement of the pelvis. Very frequently the hip and back extensors are concomitantly affected, which explains the marked lumbar lordosis with protrusion of the abdomen seen while the patient stands or walks. This type of gait is seen in patients with dystrophic myopathies affecting the hip musculature, in spinal muscular atrophy, and in dislocation of the hips.
