The stomach is a J-shaped organ that digests food. It produces enzymes(substances that create chemical reactions) and acids(digestive juices). This mix of enzymes and digestive juices breaks down food so it can pass to [the] small intestine.... [The] stomach sits in [the] upper abdomen on the left side of [the] body. The top of [the] stomach connects to a valve called the esophageal sphincter(a muscle at the end of [the] esophagus). ... the TSB [Transportation Safety Board of Canada] analyzed specifically the aircraft steering system, while not ignoring the other factors mentioned above, although no indication was found that they could have contributed to the occurrence. To steer the aircraft on the ground, the pilot in the left seat uses the nose-gear steering wheel on the console to the pilot's left. During take-off and landing, directional control of the aircraft is maintained solely by the rudder. The aircraft's ground steering system comprises several components, including the nose-gear steering wheel, a system of cables and pulleys, and a steering control valve fitted to a nose-wheel steering cylinder, which is attached to the nose-wheel strut. The cable and pulley system links the steering wheel to the control valve. When the pilot turns the steering wheel to the left or right, tension is applied to the cables connected to the pulley on the steering control valve. This action determines the direction and the deflection rate of the nose wheel by allowing hydraulic fluid to enter one side or the other side of the nose-wheel steering cylinder; the steering cylinder then deflects the nose wheel through a system of gears. 3, record 22, English, - aircraft%20steering%20system

4, record 22, French, - syst%C3%A8me%20d%27orientation

Displays and Control Module(DCM)... Along the top are switches for power, communications mode selection, caution and warning. There is also a switch that controls the water that is fed to the Liquid Cooling-and-Ventilation Garment. A digital display is used to monitor the various suit circuits. At the top left of this module is an emergency relief valve. If the primary life support system were to ever malfunction, the astronaut would still have access to the secondary oxygen pack. To activate this secondary oxygen pack, all the astronaut would have to do is open a purge valve by squeezing a set of pinchers. This valve releases air pressure on the chest plate-this is the same valve that is used at the end of EVA [Extravehicular Activity] to depressurize the suit. Also on the left, a step down from the purge valve, is the mechanical-suit pressure gauge. Along the right-hand side of the module, are two switches : the ventilation-fan switch and the push-to-talk switch. The ventilation-fan switch can activate and deactivate a fan which circulates air through the helmet and other parts of the suit. The push-to-talk switch is similar to one you would find on a CB [Citizen Band] radio. If the astronaut wants to talk, he has to push the button to be heard, and if he wants to receive voice messages, he has to release the button. On the front of the panel are other controls for volume, temperature, and suit pressure. 2, record 31, English, - display%20and%20control%20module

... a spray gun includes a fluid adjustment which controls the fluid valve, a spreader adjustment valve, an air-valve assembly, an air cap, a fluid inlet, and an air inlet. The balance among air pressure, airflow, fluid pressure, and fluid flow is controlled by adjusting the valves concerned to provide the desired spray quality and pattern. Air flowing through the center area of the air cap and through holes near the center mixes with fluid from the fluid tip and produces an atomized spray. Air flowing from the openings in the horns of the air cap impinges on each side of the fluid spray to produce an elongated spray pattern. This pattern may be adjusted for a wide or narrow area by changing the setting of the spreader adjustment valve. At the bottom, pulp is continuously slushed from the column of cooled, softened chips by slowly-rotating paddles that are mounted on radial arms attached to the hub of the outlet device. The diluted pulp stock, which is under about 200 psig of pressure at this point, is then blown at a controlled rate, often to an atmospheric tank. The blow line typically utilizes a control valve on either side of a small pressure vessel with a variable orifice, so that there are three controlled stages of pressure drop. 1, record 45, English, - blow%20line

Vacuum breakers are basically anti-syphonage preventers and should never be used where there is any possibility of back pressure. They fall into 2 categories : a. Atmospheric Type... b. Pressure Type... The atmospheric type vacuum breaker is designed for intermittent service only. It should never be installed with a shut-off valve on the outlet side. It should only be used where it will be under pressure for short periods(maximum : 12 hours in a 24-hour period), not under pressure most of the time. Typical applications are : a. Washing Machines; b. Lawn Sprinkler Systems; c. Photographic Developing Tanks; and d. Vending Machines. This type of vacuum breaker is mounted directly in the line, and has a limited flow capacity due to the fact that line flow passes through the vacuum breaker. 1, record 49, English, - atmospheric%20type%20vacuum%20breaker

Soil retention test. One variation of this test is directed primarily toward the use of geotextiles as underwater silt curtains. The test device consists of two rectangular tanks which are placed end to end with slide gates facing one another. Between these two slide gates is the fabric specimen under test. The upstream tank(with the slide gate closed) is now filled with water that has a known amount of silt uniformly mixed in it. The gate valve at the exit end of the downstream tank is opened. The test begins by lifting up the slide gates on each side of the fabric and allowing the(turbid) water to pass through the fabric, which is acting as a submerged soil filter.... This test... is aimed at the reduction in turbidity of rivers and streams during adjacent construction activities. Depending upon the local topography sludge removal may be accomplished via a bleed valve in the bottom of the tank. In this case the tank bottom should slope to the center and/or contain a sump. The compartment cooling air fan is located on the APU left side just aft of the generator. The fan is driven by the accessory drive and draws air through a flapper valve mounted on the exterior surface of the APU enclosure left side. Cooling air supplied by the fan from the aft accessory compartment is blown into the system through a bifurcated duct attached to the aft side of the fan housing. This duct diverts a portion of air through the oil cooler and allows the remainder to be used for generator and APU compartment cooling. Air for cooling the generator flows through a crossover duct attached to the blast cap on the end of the generator. Air for cooling the compartment is allowed to escape into the area surrounding the APU by means of a slot in the lower surface of the generator crossover duct. 2, record 58, English, - blast%20cap
