In the last decades, imaging membrane potential has become a fruitful approach to study neural circuits, especially in invertebrate preparations with large, resilient neurons. At the same time, particularly in mammalian preparations, voltage imaging methods suffer from poor signal to noise and secondary side effects, and they fall short of providing single-cell resolution when imaging of the activity of neuronal populations. As an introduction to these techniques, we briefly review different voltage imaging methods(including organic fluorophores, SHG [second harmonic generation] chromophores, genetic indicators, hybrid, nanoparticles, and intrinsic approaches) and illustrate some of their applications to neuronal biophysics and mammalian circuit analysis. 1, record 12, English, - voltage%20imaging

A type of RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) tag containing a battery that operates the circuitry of the microchip, but must draw power from the magnetic field created by the reader in order to communicate with the reader via radio waves. 4, record 15, English, - battery%2Dassisted%20passive%20tag

Traditional Passive RFID [radio frequency identification] Tags rely on gathering energy from the RFID Reader's signal to wake up the integrated circuit(IC) and provide the backscatter required for identification. BAP RFID tags contain their own integrated power source, which is most commonly a battery. It's very important not to confuse BAP tags with Active RFID Tags. Active tags transmit a beacon at a defined interval. BAP tags do not transmit. The range is improved because no energy needs to be harvested from the RFID Reader to power the integrated circuit and all of the captured energy can be used for backscatter. 3, record 15, English, - battery%2Dassisted%20passive%20tag

The gyros are used to maintain the platform’s inertial orientation by sensing rotations of the platform caused by vehicle-rotation-induced friction at the gimbal pivot points ... One gyro - called the vertical gyro - is oriented so its input axes are aligned with the X and Y platform axes; its input axes provide IMU [Inertial Measurement Unit] platform roll and pitch stabilization. The second gyro is oriented so that one input axis lies along the platform’s Z axis and the other lies in the X-Y plane. This gyro - the azimuth gyro - provides platform yaw stabilization with the Z input axis, while the second input axis is used as a platform rate detector for built-in test equipment. 3, record 31, English, - azimuth%20gyroscope

The sensors for angular velocity are vibrating gyroscopes(3 axes, to detect rotation and pitch/roll pendulations of the payload). An error signal is obtained differencing the signal from the azimuth gyroscope and a constant level settable from the telemetry, which controls the speed of rotation. Modulation is also identified as to level. High level modulation occurs when the modulating voltage is applied to the collector/plate circuit of the final power amplifier. With high level modulation, the final stage is operated class C and the preceding stages are also operated class C. The overall efficiency of such a transmitter is very high. A disadvantage of high level modulation is that comparatively high audio power is needed and several stages of voltage and power amplification may be required in the speech amplifier and modulator circuits. 4, record 36, English, - high%2Dpower%20modulation

Leaks... fall into two basic types : internal leakage [such] as a thin oil film is built into the working parts of a hydraulic system. This lubricates the mating surfaces of valve spools, cylinder pistons, and other moving parts. Oil is not lost through this normal internal leakage since it eventually returns to the system reservoir. However, too much internal leakage will slow the operation of the system and waste power through the generation of heat. In some cases, it may cause cylinders to creep or drift. Or it may cause loss of oil control in the valves.... External oil leaks not only look bad-they can be expensive and hazardous.... A small leak can also be the signal for a hydraulic rupture that may injure a person while putting the machine out of operation.... Every joint in a hydraulic circuit is a potential point of leakage. This is why the number of connections in a system is kept at a minimum. Components can leak, but care in assembly and use of new seals and gaskets during overhaul will help to reduce this problem. 2, record 43, English, - leak

2, record 43, French, - fuite

Circuit of electric field measurements of thunderclouds.... The electric field mill is a device based on electrostatic induction. It consists of one or two electrodes which either rotate in an electrostatic field or become periodically exposed to a field by rotating vanes. Fig. 46 illustrates a cylindrical field mill which consists of two cylinder halves that are electrically insulated from each other. An electric motor rotates the two halves in the electric field to be measured so that they become alternately exposed to both the positive and negative direction of the field. The result is that an alternating(ac) signal is generated across the two halves which can be easily amplified.... Although not commonly used, the cylindrical field mill has the advantage that when mounted in a fixed position it can also indicate the direction of the field. This is accomplished by measuring the phase shift of the ac signal relative to the orientation of electric fields need to be measured. 2, record 52, English, - cylindrical%20field%20mill

A pneumatic rate-of-rise spot detector consists of a small dome-shaped air chamber with a flexible metal diaphragm in the base. A small metering hole allows air to enter and exit the chamber during normal rise and fall of atmospheric temperature and barometric pressure. In the heat of a fire, however, the air within the chamber expands faster than it can escape through the metering hole. This expansion causes the pressure within the chamber to increase, forcing the metal diaphragm against contact points in the alarm circuit. An alarm signal to the system control unit results. This type of detector is most often combined in one unit that also has fixed-temperature capability. 1, record 65, English, - pneumatic%20rate%2Dof%2Drise%20spot%20detector

Because the O2 sensor must be pre-heated to function, many newer units contain a little 12 volt heater that brings it up to temperature sooner, offering better fuel economy and driveability earlier. These sensors can be identified by the number of wires coming out of the unit. Just one wire means you don’t have a heater. Those that have three wires use one for the signal, and two for the heater circuit. Those that have four wires use one for the signal, one for the signal' s ground, and two for the heater. In this case usually the signal wire is shielded against interference, much like common television coaxial cable. 4, record 74, English, - heated%20exhaust%20gas%20oxygen%20sensor
Record number: 74, Textual support number: 2 OBS
Most engines with a turbo use sensors with heaters because the turbo steals so much of the superheat energy as it uses it to pump additional air in the intake. Without the heater, the sensor should not get hot enough to give good readings, especially when the turbo is being used. The Suzuki 1.0 liter engines unfortunately do not employ a lambda sensor with a heater. 4, record 74, English, - heated%20exhaust%20gas%20oxygen%20sensor

3, record 74, French, - sonde%20d%27oxyg%C3%A8ne%20chauffante
