Speech recognition typically involves a signal processing stage in which a plurality of word string hypotheses, i. e., possible word sequences, are proposed for the input signal. The task is then to recognize or identify the "best" word string from a set of hypotheses, i. e., proposed word strings consistent with the input signal. Speech recognition systems utilize a language model for such a purpose. 1, record 1, English, - word%20string

CVGs [Coriolis vibrating gyroscope] have three features in common : a mechanical resonator, an oscillator and a force-displacement sensor. One mode of the resonator is maintained in resonance by an oscillator loop while oscillations are induced in a second vibration mode. The amplitude of the oscillations gives a signal proportional to the input angular rate. A wide variety of resonators, actuation and sensing schemes are possible. The simplest resonator is a tuning fork. 2, record 18, English, - mechanical%20resonator

... noise has its most deleterious effect on reception quality when it occurs in the input circuitry of the receiver, since this is usually where the basic signal-to-noise ratio is established. The generation of noise in this area is principally caused by thermal agitation in resistive input components. When the incoming signal is too weak to override this noise, a visual effect is displayed on the picture tube that is commonly referred to as snow. Although there are other types of noise that produce different visual effects, snow is the most common visual effect. 3, record 38, English, - snow

Trips employing auxiliary trip units include the Loss of Load trip and the APD – High trip. The Loss of Load trip is a contact input from the Electro Hydraulic Control System control oil pressure on each of the four high pressure stop valves. … 10. Loss of Load. The Loss of Load(turbine stop valve(TSV) control oil pressure) trip is anticipatory for the loss of heat removal capabilities of the secondary system following a turbine trip. The Loss of Load trip prevents lifting the pressurizer saftey valves, PORVs and MSSVs in the event of a turbine generator trip. Thus, the trip minimizes the pressure and temperature transients on the reactor by initiating a trip well before reaching the Pressurizer Pressure – High trip and pressurizer safety valve setpoints. The four RPS Loss of Load reactor trip channels receive their input from sensors mounted on the high pressure TSV actuators. Since there are four high pressure TSVs, one actuator per valve and one sensor per actuator, each sensor sends its signal to a different RPS channel. When the turbine trips, control oil is dumped from the high pressure TSVs. When the control oil pressure drops to the appropriate setpoint, a reactor trip signal is generated. 1, record 48, English, - load%20reactor%20trip%20channel

3, record 49, French, - discriminateur%20%C3%A0%20fraction%20constante

Energy spectroscopy. For energy analysis the output current pulse from a PMT [photomultiplier tube] or from a semiconductor detector is often applied to a charge-sensitive preamplifier. The preamplifier produces a voltage pulse with a peak amplitude that is proportional to the total charge in the current pulse, which is proportional to the energy absorbed from the incident radiation. Amplifiers and filters are used to expand the range of the peak amplitude and to shape the signal from the preamplifier, a process that maximizes the signal-to-noise ratio for the system. For energy analysis the peak amplitude of the shaped pulse represents the information of interest. Discriminators and single-channel analyzers(SCA) can be used, following the signal shaping system, to determine the presence of certain energies of detected radiation. A discriminator produces an output logic pulse if it's input signal exceeds a preset threshold level. An SCA produces an output logic pulse if the peak amplitude of it's input signal falls within the energy window that is established with two preset threshold levels. 1, record 52, English, - energy%20spectroscopy

The single-axis inertial platform... The angular motions of the controlled member are sensed by the single-axis gyro. The output signal of the gyro is electronically processed and fed to the torque motor(TM) of the stable element and to the torque generator(TG) of the gyro. The problem is to determine how to do the electronic processing so that the controlled member maintains its orientation in spite of disturbances. The voltage across the output signal generator(SG) of the gyroscope is proportional to the integral of the angular velocity of the controlled member about the gyroscope's input axis. Consequently, this signal is fed to an amplifier and then to a motor, which drives the controlled member in the proper direction to null the ouptut of the gyroscope. 1, record 59, English, - output%20signal%20generator

Class-A operation. Class-A amplifier operation is characterized by a conduction period of the output current (collector or drain) of 360°. That is, the operating point is chosen to have a constant voltage and current. In effect, the amplifier power is on all the time. This is referred to as linear operation. By operating in the linear region of the transistor’s characteristics, the amplified signal suffers minimum distortion. This comes at a price of inefficiency in the amplifier. Various methods have been proposed to implement a digital-to-analog converter(DAC). One such method is to create a pulse train whose average value is equal to the magnitude of the digital input and then average the pulse train by passing it through a low-pass filter. Conventionally, pulse wave modulators(PWM) are used to create the pulse train from a digital input signal. However, the quality of the analog signal that results from the filtered pulse train may contain considerable noise unless an expensive low-pass filter is constructed. 1, record 81, English, - pulse%20wave%20modulator

The best audio boards are designed with digital signal processor chips that provide more efficient sampling and contain separate circuits to bring in synthesized digital sound directly through a MIDI interface. In many cases audio boards are integrated with full-motion video boards... All audio boards offered for multimedia applications record and play back sounds by digital sampling but may have different sampling rate ranges. Most also include separate engines for music synthesis, MIDI ports, and a software mixer to adjust relative volumes of sampled sounds, CD-Audio, external audio and microphone input. 5, record 99, English, - sound%20board
