Transient receptor potential(TRP) channels are transmembrane protein complexes that play important roles in the physiology and pathophysiology of both the central nervous system(CNS) and the peripheral nerve system(PNS). TRP channels function as non-selective cation channels that are activated by several chemical, mechanical, and thermal stimuli as well as by pH [potential of hydrogen], osmolarity, and several endogenous or exogenous ligands, second messengers, and signaling molecules. 2, record 1, English, - transient%20receptor%20potential%20channel

Characterized by a gradual deterioration of immune function. During the course of infection, crucial immune cells called CD4+ T cells are disabled and killed, and their numbers progressively decline. CD4+ T cells play a crucial role in the immune response, signaling other cells in the immune system to perform their special functions. 4, record 2, English, - HIV%20infection

The term AIDS is used to indicate only the most severe diseases or clinical conditions (i.e., infections, neoplasm) observed in the continuum of illness related to infection with the retrovirus human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1). Infection with HIV and AIDS are not synonymous terms. 5, record 2, English, - HIV%20infection

1, record 2, Spanish, - infecci%C3%B3n%20por%20VIH

Molecular Neuroscience includes the Neurobiotechnology faculty as well as other individual investigators from the Colleges of Biological Sciences, Dentistry, Medicine, Pharmacy, and Social and Behavioral Sciences. The projects in molecular neuroscience range from studies aimed at understanding the regulation of gene expression in nervous tissue to elucidating the molecular mechanisms that regulate nervous system function which are illustrated in the following areas : cell signaling mechanisms, neural degeneration, neuronal adhesion, nervous system development, aging, tumorigenesis, synapse formation, the developmental regulation of neurotransmitter peptides and receptor gene expression, genetics of neurological diseases and developmental biology of limb formation and regeneration. 1, record 3, English, - neurobiotechnology
