In many multienzyme systems the end product of the reaction sequence may act as a specific inhibitor of an enzyme at or near the beginning of the sequence, with the result that the rate of the entire sequence of reactions is determined by the steady-state concentration of the end product. The classical example is the multienzyme sequence catalyzing the conversion of L-threonine to L-isoleucine, which occurs in five enzyme-catalyzed steps. 3, record 1, English, - multi%2Denzyme%20system

Ces composants cellulaires sont isolables et leurs systèmes fonctionnent encore de manière satisfaisante, ce qui explique la détermination des biotechnologies de les utiliser à des fins de production, à l'état isolé comme au sein de cellules intactes. 1, record 1, French, - syst%C3%A8me%20multi%2Denzymatique

Pollution Prevention Opportunity Evaluation. Waste-generating Process: Metal Finishing - Surface Preparation. Opportunity: Reduce Rinsewater Use; Use of Rinsewater as Chemical Solution Make-up. ... The use water for rinsing can be reduced by several methods: ... A still rinse tank, also known as "dead rinse," "stagnant rinse," and "recovery rinse," can be used ahead of flowing rinses to concentrate the drag out in one tank and to reduce the amount of chemicals discharged to the sewer. The dead rinsewater can be used as make-up chemical solution. 2, record 2, English, - stagnant%20rinse
Record number: 2, Textual support number: 2 CONT
Installing an electrowinning unit on a stagnant rinse tank after a dragout recovery tank is the most common and costeffective application of electrowinning. To maintain a steady-state metal concentration in the stagnant rinse at or below the maximum contaminant concentration, the rate of metal deposition onto the electrowinning cathodes must be greater than or equal to the rate of dragin from the preceding tank. Thus, the metal deposition rate is an essential design parameter that ultimately affects the capacity, size and cost of the electrowinning unit.... Because metal and cyanide concentration in the stagnant rinse are lowered, subsequent rinses will be cleaner, allowing the flow rates in these rinses to be reduced or turned off. In many cases, rinse water flow is reduced to a rate equal to the evaporation rate from the stagnant rinse. 3, record 2, English, - stagnant%20rinse

Transderm-V(scopolamine) transdermal therapeutic system is a circular flat unit designed for continuous release of scopolamine following application to an area of intact skin behind the ear... An initial priming dose of scopolamine, released from the adhesive layer of the system, saturates the skin binding sites for the drug and brings the plasma concentration to the required steady-state level. Subsequently, there is continuous controlled release of scopolamine, from the drug reservoir through the rate controlling membrane. 1, record 3, English, - transdermal

Although several methods can be used to estimate the effects of mass transfer to the immobilized enzyme carrier surface from the bulk liquid, the conditions encountered are not typical of those frequently encountered in other applications. Laminar liquid flow with a low-Reynolds number falling outside the range of many mass transfer correlations is normal for immobilized enzyme systems. The rate of mass transfer from the bulk solution to a surface can be written as... where km is the mass transfer coefficient(with units of cm/s), am is the surface area per unit volume(cm[ superscript-1]), Sb is the bulk phase substrate concentration, and Ss is the substrate concentration at the surface. Under steady-state conditions, this mass transfer rate must equal the reaction rate at the particle surface or the apparent rate within the particle. 3, record 4, English, - mass%20transfer%20coefficient
