An electrically conducting or semi-conducting nanofibre. 6, record 3, English, - nanowire
Record number: 3, Textual support number: 1 CONT
Two processes in nanotechnology by which nanowires can be manufactured are suspension and deposition. A suspended nanowire is held up by the ends in an evacuated chamber, and then is chemically etched or bombarded with high-speed atoms or molecules to reduce its diameter. Another method involves indenting the surface of a wire in the center of a suspended span, raising the temperature, and then stretching the wire while it is near its melting point. A deposited nanowire is fabricated on a surface consisting of some non-conducting substance such as plastic or glass. The process is similar to that by which semiconductor chips are grown, except that the result is a linear(one-dimensional) structure rather than a flat(two-dimensional) or solid(three-dimensional) structure. 7, record 3, English, - nanowire
Record number: 3, Textual support number: 2 CONT
A nanometer-scale wire [is] made of metal atoms, silicon, or other materials that conduct electricity. Nanowires are built atom by atom on a solid surface, often as part of a microfluidic device. They can be coated with molecules such as antibodies that will bind to proteins and other substances of interest to researchers and clinicians. By the very nature of their nanoscale size, nanowires are incredibly sensitive to such binding events and respond by altering the electrical current flowing through them, and thus can form the basis of ultra sensitive molecular detectors. 2, record 3, English, - nanowire

Ce contrôle a rendu possible ces dernières années l'intégration de ces nanofils dans des composants tels que des transistors à effet de champ, des composants logiques, des diodes électroluminescentes, des lasers dont l'émission est commandée électroniquement et des capteurs. 3, record 3, French, - nanofil

If in a gravitational field you support a rotating body in only a single point that is not the center of gravity(center of mass), there is a torque acting on it; if the rotation is fast enough to be associated with a substantial angular momentum and the change in angular momentum effected by that torque is comparatively small, you will observe precession. Gyroscopes used for navigation have to be suspended in their center of gravity and in a way that when changing direction of the box(airplane) around it no torque is applied through that suspension. 3, record 9, English, - gyro%20suspension%20point
