The use of the term "sound science" goes back to a campaign waged by the tobacco industry to undermine the indisputable connection between smoking and disease. Industry documents released as a result of tobacco litigation show that in 1993 Philip Morris and its public relations firm, APCO Associates, created a nonprofit front group called The Advancement of Sound science Coalition (TASSC) to fight against the regulation of cigarettes. 2, record 1, English, - sound%20science

6, record 1, French, - principes%20scientifiques%20%C3%A9prouv%C3%A9s
Record number: 1, Textual support number: 1 OBS
4, record 1, French, - principes%20scientifiques%20%C3%A9prouv%C3%A9s

One of the ’Laws of Thought’, expressed symbolically as ’Av~A’. This means for any statement, either the affirmative or the negative must be true. In logic, any sentence which appears in the form of the law of the excluded middle is considered to be a tautology; that is, true in all possible cases. 1, record 3, English, - law%20of%20the%20excluded%20middle
