TEMPERATURE PROGRAMMING [7 records]

Record 1 2011-05-31

English

Subject field(s)
  • Analytical Chemistry
DEF

A chromatographic technique in which a temperature gradient is produced.

OBS

Thermochromatography is an alternative to temperature programming.

OBS

The heat source is passed down a column in the mobile phase flow direction.

Key term(s)
  • temperature gradient analysis

Record 2 2010-04-30

English

Subject field(s)
  • Brewing and Malting
CONT

Less well-modified malt, however, benefits from a period of mashing at lower temperatures to permit the breakdown of proteins and glucans. This requires some form of temperature programming, which is achieved by decoction mashing. After grist is mashed in at 35° to 40°C(95° to 105°F), a proportion is removed, boiled, and added back. Mashing with two or three of these decoctions raises the temperature in stages to 65°C. The decoction process, traditional in lager brewing, uses four to six volumes of water per volume of grist and requires a second vessel called the mash cooker.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Brasserie et malterie
CONT

English

Subject field(s)
  • Heating
CONT

Another convenient feature is intelligent programming. If you want the house to be a certain temperature when you wake up at 7 a. m., for instance, a thermostat with intelligent programming determines the latest time it can engage the heating system to reach the desired temperature at the desired time.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Chauffage
CONT

Record 5 1999-04-26

English

Subject field(s)
  • Analytical Chemistry
CONT

The problem of severe baseline drift associated with column bleed at higher temperatures during temperature programming operations was satisfactorily eliminated by Emery and Koerner, who developed a dual-column, programmed-temperature chromatograph, extending the upper usable temperature limits for column packings. This was accomplished by programming the temperature of two symmetrical columns, the effluent of the "dummy" column passing through the reference side of a four-filament, hot-wire thermal conductivity cell compensating for the "bleed" of analytical column.

PHR

Low-capacity analytical column.
