2, record 9, French, - r%C3%A9seau%20admirable

The image processing consisted in generating intensity images and one coherence image. To facilitate their analysis and interpretation, a coloured composition has been created with the results. This composition is obtained by adding the coherence image in red, the average of both images phase intensities in green and the difference between these phase intensities in blue. As such, a high coherence level(value close to 1) appears in red and indicates a very good phase correlation between the two images, a consequence of the various mechanisms of radar signal scattering and of the lack of change which could affect the target. On the contrary, a weak coherence level(value tending to 0) appears in black and indicates a movement in these zones during the 24 hours interval which separated the two image shots. Lastly, the white spots correspond to areas with a strong radar signal backscattering i. e. with zones of hills or vegetation. 3, record 15, English, - colour%20composition

Rigidity in space. The gyroscope resists turning. When it is "gimbaled" (free to move in a given direction) such that it is free to move either in 1, 2 or 3 dimensions, any surface such as an instrument dial attached to the gyro assembly will remain rigid in space even though the case of the gyro turns. 3, record 55, French, - inertie%20gyroscopique
Record number: 55, Textual support number: 1 CONT
2, record 55, French, - inertie%20gyroscopique

Rooted cuttings. Rooted stock is usually grown from 13 cm cuttings principally from hybrid poplar material grown in stool beds. Rooted cuttings cost more to produce, but have some advantages over cuttings in certain applications. At lower planting densities, the cost of establishment and tending can be offset somewhat, as rooted stock has more advanced top growth than cuttings. It requires less tending and is well suited for establishing lower density, higher quality plantations grown for lumber and veneer products. Deer and rodent damage is also less of a problem with larger rooted stock. Large(>1 m high) rooted cuttings are more costly to plant than smaller stock. 2, record 64, English, - rooted%20cuttings

3, record 64, French, - boutures%20racin%C3%A9es

The ISF is projected as a pressurized... cylinder, allowing the manufacturing facilities aboard to be tended at intervals by human operators working in a "shirtsleeve" environment. Between visits, the ISF would operate automatically, or by remote control. It will be accessed via a docking tunnel(probably flexible) leading from the Shuttle mid-deck, but the module itself will not be docked in the cargo bay for tending. In addition to the basic "workshop" module, the ISF will have a 3 m long supply module, to hold the raw materials and finished products. unstable: The opposite of "stable," i.e. the chemical species concerned has a higher molar Gibbs energy than some assumed standard. The term should not be used in place of "reactive" or "transient," although more reactive or transient species are frequently also more unstable. (Very unstable chemical species tend to undergo exothermic unimolecular decompositions. Variations in the structure of the related chemical species of this kind generally affect the energy of the transition states for these decompositions less than they affect the stability of the decomposing chemical species. Low stability may therefore parallel a relatively high rate of unimolecular decomposition.) 4, record 92, English, - unstable

Among the classes of mass-transport phenomena in liquids, thermal diffusion(the Soret effect) is... characterized by the existence of a spontaneous matter flux in an inhomogeneously heated fluid mixture, this flux tending to separate the constituents.... Among the cases where this effect has been emphasized, we can mention the elaboration of high technology materials(solidification of semiconductors), the production or purification of light metals... and the optimization of petroleum extraction(by modelling of the hydrocarbon distribution in the reservoirs). So, knowledge of quantitative values of the Soret coefficient(which is the parameter characteristic of the phenomenon) for a wide domain of materials, in various thermodynamic conditions and physical configurations is needed for the above-mentioned basic and applied purposes.... The experimental determination of Soret coefficients in binary mixtures, denoted ST, is obtained by measuring the steady concentration gradient produced by the imposition of a constant and uniform temperature gradient. This concentration gradient achieves a stationary state when thermal diffusion and interdiffusion(which tends to rehomogenize the mixture) exactly compensate each other. 1, record 99, English, - Soret%20coefficient
