There is a systematic bias in the reporting of POP [probability of precipitation] by television stations. Research shows : weather presenters intentionally report higher probabilities for rain than they believe.... The idea is that the general public will blame them if it rains when the prediction was for no rain(people often equate very low POP with no rain), whereas if the prediction is wrong the other way around-high POP but no rain-then people are relieved and do not blame the forecasters. This bias is well enough established to have its own name : the "wet bias. " 2, record 3, English, - wet%20bias

in-line inductor: This type of proportioner educts or drafts foam concentrate from a container or tank by venturi action, utilizing the operating pressure of the hose water stream on which it is installed, injecting concentrate into that flow of water. 4, record 10, English, - in%2Dline%20foam%20concentrate%20inducer
Record number: 10, Textual support number: 2 CONT
There are three different types of foam proportioners commonly used in the fire service : line eductors, balanced pressure proportioners, and around-the-pump proportioners. The line eductor is the simplest and least expensive proportioning device. It has no moving parts in the water way, which makes it durable and dependable. The line eductor may be attached to the hoseline or may be part of the nozzle. There are two different types of line eductors : the in-line eductor and the self-educting nozzle. Both types of eductors use the venturi principle to draft foam concentrate into the water stream. As water at high pressure passes over a reduced opening, it creates a low-pressure area near the outlet side of the eductor. This low-pressure area creates a suction effect. The eductor pickup tube is connected to the eductor at this low-pressure point. The pickup tube submerged in the foam concentrate draws concentrate into the water stream, creating a foam water solution. 6, record 10, English, - in%2Dline%20foam%20concentrate%20inducer

What is snowskating?... it's skateboarding on snow. That's just the most basic explanation out there, but of course there a some more variables.... There is the technical side of snowskating that resembles the street style way of skateboarding with its flips and ollies. At the other end of the spectrum there is the surf-like snowskating style like longboards on snow, where you find your way through deep pow in a flow way of riding. The first snowboard was called the Snurfer which was invented around 1964. It consisted of some sort of small surfboard and a rope in front of the board to hold on too. There were no bindings present, so you could say the first snowboard was actually a snowskate. 2, record 14, English, - snowskating

The Period of PURPLE Crying® is the phrase used to describe the point in a baby's life when they cry more than any other time. This period of increased crying is often described as colic, but there have been many misunderstandings about what “colic” really is. The Period of PURPLE Crying® is a new way to help parents understand this time in their baby's life, which is a normal part of every infant's development. It is confusing and concerning to be told your baby “has colic” because it sounds like it is an illness or a condition that is abnormal. When the baby is given colic medicine it reinforces the idea that there is something wrong with the baby when in fact the baby is going through a very normal developmental phase. That is why we prefer to refer to this time as the Period of PURPLE Crying®. No, it is not because the baby turns purple when he/she cries but provides a meaningful and memorable way to describe what parents and their babies are going through. The Period of PURPLE Crying® begins at about 2 weeks of age and continues until about 3-4 months. 2, record 19, English, - Period%20of%20PURPLE%20Crying%C2%AE

Individual shingles on the sidewall have several advantages over using pre-made shingle panels. The biggest plus is that the shingles are nailed to the underlayment, not glued. There is no way to have glue failure. The individually nailed shingles are much easier to do repairs on, should that be necessary. It is fairly simple to remove a few ruined shingles and slip in new ones to fix the damage. With the prepared panels, the entire panel(or possibly more) panel units must be removed and replaced as it is possible to remove and replace the individual shingles on the panels. An additional plus factor for individual shingles is that they are normally installed with three thickness’... On most panels the shingles are 12" long and there are two thickness’ of shingles as the shingles are usually exposed 6". This means that individual shingle construction gives more protection to the underlayment. Increased shingle thickness also increases the insulation factor on the wall surface. 2, record 20, English, - individual%20shingle

1, record 40, English, - line%20eductor

The practice of a state is shown by its acts and attitudes in its international relations with other states. When it becomes clear that each state acts in the same way, or takes up the same attitude to the acts or omissions of other states, the practice is uniform. When there is a repetition of such uniform practice over a period of time, the practice is constant. State practice which is both uniform and constant creates a "usage". Custom requires a "general practice". No precise answer can be given to the question of how general the practice needs to be. So long as a group of states follow the practice, and accept it as law, there is a custom. All customs have begun in the same way, and become of increasingly universal application as more states align their practice to them. 2, record 44, English, - practice

When removable-head drums intended to contain solids are subjected to a drop test in such a way as to strike the target by the head, the packaging may be regarded as having passed the test if the contents are retained intact by a device such as an inner receptacle(e. g. a plastic bag) even if the lid is no longer a leakproof fit on the head of the drum. 5, record 50, English, - drop%20test

A contestable market is one into which entry is abs olutely free, and exit is absolutely costless. We use "freedom of entry" in Stigler's sense, not to mean that it is costless or easy, but that the entrant suffers no disadvantage in terms of production technique or perceived product quality relative to the incumbent, and that potential entrants find it appropriate to evaluate the profitability of entry in terms of the incumbent firms’ pre-entry prices. In short, it is a requirement of contestability that there be no cost discrimination against entrants. Absolute freedom of exit, to us, is one way to guarantee freedom of entry. By this we mean that any firm can leave without impediment, and in the process of departure can recoup any costs incurred in the entry process. 3, record 52, English, - contestable%20market

Domestic burners usually are confined to the use of oils ranging in grade from No. 1 to No. 4 and employ either one of two methods to prepare the fuel oil for combustion. These are atomization(spraying) and vaporisation(heating). Atomization or spraying is divided into three types, namely, high-pressure atomization, low-pressure atomization, and centrifugal atomization.... The third way in which oil is atomized is by use of centrifugal force. The oil is fed to a rapidly rotating cup(3, 450 rpm or faster). It then spreads throughout this cup in a fine film and flies of the outer edge at a high rate of speed in a very finely divided state. Burners that make use of such centrifugal force are of two types from the standpoint of their design : the horizontal rotary type and the vertical rotary type. High-speed motors are required by burners that use this type of atomization exclusively. With centrifugal atomizing burners there is no contact between oil and air until both have left the burner and entered the combustion chamber. 1, record 63, English, - centrifugal%20atomization
