In contrast to the automatic recording instruments monitoring volume increases at constant pressure, van de Craats maintained the volume constant and recorded automatically the pressure changes by means of an electromagnetic manometer devised by Kinkel.... In addition to van de Craats’ work with pressure-sensing devices, Novák and Janák constructed a detector which represents the pneumatic analog of a Wheatstone bridge, employing the dynamic effects of pneumatic obstructions such as capillaries and constrictions for determining component fractions emerging from the gas chromatographic column. Requiring no electrical power yet having an accuracy comparable to high precision thermal conductivity cells, it expresses the pressure differential, either differentially or integrally, caused by the eluted component as a diagonal from zero. Furthermore, the substance analyzed is never in contact with the detector.

En Europe les profilés aluminium à rupture de pont thermique sont obligatoires dans le bâtiment depuis plus d'un an, pour des questions de confort et d'économie d'énergie. Le principe, simple, consiste à empêcher les échanges thermiques extérieur / intérieur dus à la conductivité naturelle de l'aluminium. [...] La rupture de pont thermique sera réalisée à l'aide de barrettes en polyamide, matériau isolant, fixées par une technique très spécifique de sertissage, pour séparer la partie de la fenêtre ou de la porte exposée à l'extérieur, de la partie côté intérieur. N'étant plus conducteur, le châssis aluminium devient alors insensible aux variations climatiques. Autre avantage de cette technique : elle permet la bi-coloration du châssis, avec par exemple un côté extérieur en blanc et une face intérieure de couleur.

The Payload Carriers Team is responsible for MSFC' s [Marshall Space Flight Center] Payload Carriers which is made up of two type of carriers : the Spacelab Logistics Pallet(SLP) and the Multi-Purpose Equipment Support Structure(MPESS). The Payload Carriers "bridge the gap" in payload accommodations available in the Space Shuttle's Payload Bay by providing unique structural, power, data and thermal resources to a variety of payloads. These carriers are designed to transport items safely through the rigors of high acceleration Shuttle launch and the vacuum of space while providing the flexibility to allow the Shuttle to minimize the mass transported to earth orbit.

In thermal conductivity analysers, a Wheatstone Bridge Circuit measures the imbalance caused by passing gas over detector filaments, using half of the cells for the fumigant air mixture and the other half for air as a control. This analyser, in a portable form, is commonly used to check for methyl bromide in ship holds, but it can also be calibrated for other gases. It will not differentiate between fumigants if mixtures are used.

Dans ce genre d'appareil, on utilise un circuit à pont de Wheatstone pour mesurer le déséquilibre provoqué par le passage d'un gaz au-dessus des filaments détecteurs. La moitié des cellules sert à l'analyse du mélange fumigant/air; l'autre moitié sert aux mesures témoins avec de l'air uniquement. On utilise couramment des modèles portatifs pour mesurer les concentrations de bromure de méthyle dans les cales de navire, mais on peut aussi étalonner les analyseurs en fonction d'autres gaz. En pratique, les analyseurs à conductivité thermique conviennent mal pour l'analyse de mélanges de fumigants.
