Record number: 1, Textual support number: 1 CONT
... thermosiphon is the physical phenomenon by which a fluid circulation is established in a closed circuit due to the density difference between the fluids at different temperatures. The thermosiphon principle is used in some solar thermal energy systems when the structure of the pipes allows it. 4, record 1, English, - thermosiphon

Record number: 1, Textual support number: 1 CONT
3, record 1, French, - thermosiphon

The spatial displacement of an area of high pressure caused by the local redistribution of mass in the atmosphere. 1, record 3, English, - anticyclone%20movement
Record number: 3, Textual support number: 1 OBS
This redistribution is accomplished by the three-dimensional motion associated with the atmospheric circulation. The trajectory of the centre is often altered by local heating or cooling of the air column, usually as a result of thermal fluxes at the surface. These fluxes change the temperature of the air near the surface resulting in density changes which modify surface pressures. 1, record 3, English, - anticyclone%20movement

A cooling tower basically consists of an air circuit and a water circuit leading to a heat exchange vessel in which the air and water are brought into contact. By a stack effect, i. e. by natural draft, the cooling tower shell provides air circulation. When, as is the case with the wet cooling towers at EDF thermal and nuclear plants, the air and water are placed in direct contact in the heat exchange vessel, the hot air escaping from the shell is saturated with steam : mixing with the colder outside air produces by steam condensation a plume whose structure is similar to a natural cloud. 1, record 4, English, - wet%20cooling%20tower

A well developed circulation can penetrate as far as 50 km inland. During sea breeze situations an interesting air pollution problem arises. This will be illustrated using the north shore of Lake Ontario as an example. Several thermal generating stations are opened near the coast. During a sea breeze situation..., their emissions are adverted inland relatively undispersed in stable air. Eventually the well-mixed layer whose thickness increases inland intercepts the plume and brings it to the ground. The result is stationary fumigation which persists much longer than the event-type of fumigation that occurs in late morning during the breakup of a nocturnal inversion. 1, record 6, English, - stationary%20fumigation
